Bad Movie Fiends - The BMFcast

The below is still valid, but during the pandemic the BMFcast continued to chug along in some form. For other podcasts this is because it is how they make money. For these guys it is because they enjoy doing this. The money they get goes to better equipment (the audio quality shows) and supplies them with more subject matter. They don’t make Rogan money and could have called it quits. The pandemic could have broken them, but it didn’t. The chemistry and commitment is what makes this worthwhile to the listener. ***************** Most of the general public likes to write off low budget or lowbrow movies, but not the BMF cast crew. They have a talent for picking out why some movies are great for achieving what they set out to do. For example, does Andy Sidaris deliver in his “Bullets, Bombs, and Babes” series? Does Ricochet achieve insane action and over the top performances? It’s easy to pick a movie and make fun of it’s failings, which they do with an occasional pun thrown in, but it takes a kind of love and respect for these films to pick through all the individual aspects that make them great. Yes, Charles Band’s Dollman is boring, but at least someone took the time to build decent models for it. Amityville 2 has a storyline that is terrible, but how great was the camera work? Every Albert Pyun movie manages to be incredibly boring, but at least the premise is amazing (spoiler for Pyun, the awesome premise does not make it worth watching). If you’re a typical passive lover of movies, I’d recommend listening to this. After a few episodes you’ll start actively paying attention to the little things movies will do such as music cues, framing shots certain ways, or nearly killing stuntmen. The only downside: a terrible “TTT” in their livestream.

Unlike the countless other bad movie podcasts, these guys don’t just enjoy garbage and sleaze for it’s own sake, and can tell when something is actually entertaining. Also, their plot rundowns, in addition to being amusing, are extremely helpful in deciding which of these endless films are actually worth watching!
