Joette Barnes is the new chief instructional officer for the East Central Independent School District. She has, until recently, been the principal of Oak Crest Elementary School, where she has been instrumental in cultivating a collaborative culture and a unified vision for school improvement. A homegrown and a proud graduate of East Central ISD, from elementary to graduation, she completed her Bachelor of Science and Master’s in Education at Prairie View A&M University in 2006, then chose to serve the district that raised her.
