Season 8 criticism vs. The Last Watch Wrap Up

Season 8 - I was disappointed in the holes and slack/rushed plot points, BUT:

After seeing ”The Last Watch” wrap up, I got a whole new appreciation for the SUPERHUMAN effort put in by the people ”in the shadows” - makeup personnel (poor Mom and Dad GOWER - so glad their little girl got to be IN GOT), wardrobe experts, special effects people, CGI techs, logistics team, choreography, stunt people, (YEAH for Vlad Furdik!) the stunt coordinator from Croatia who got to have his 15 minutes ON SCREEN,
the extras - God BLESS the enthusiasm of Andrew McClay!

And thanks SO MUCH to the COUNTLESS others who worked TIRELESSLY to provide the ”fans” with 1-2 hours of pure and wonderful escapism with every episode.

I was breathless and filled with sympathetic anxiety on behalf of everyone from the ”snow manager” (Del Reid) the parking and security people and the location managers - like Naomi ”****ing” Lister 😂 who so succinctly put her frustrations!! 😂😂

I think of poor Patrick Stapazon (assistant to David Nutter) having his own daily “battle” with 8 1/2 x 11” GOLD paper and a copy machine and I can TOTALLY relate!

Of course, we all could imagine how much work our ”stars” put into each shot they were in, but all of these other people were expected to be ”on” ALL THE TIME and have everything 100% ready to go on time and in place - right down to having the right coffee available (loved the disgusted look on the face of the ”big shot” after tasting the replacement coffee!) HA!

After watching that amazing 2 hr glimpse ”behind the scenes”, there is NO WAY I could NOT ”get behind” GOT as the absolute MIRACLE which these people and countless others brought into my house for nearly 10 years.

The show SHOULD set a record for winning awards in so many categories, but where are the awards for the extras, the script managers, the people who kept the coffee coming, the nosy people off the sets, etc, etc, etc?

The best way to award these people is to quit harping about what we as fans DIDN'T get and try being THANKFUL for everything done by EVERYONE from Kit Harrington to Ms. McCrum in the mobile kitchen.

Love this podcast!

I started listening to a variety of GOT podcasts right before the start of season 8. I stumbled across these guys and really enjoy what they had to say. They opened my eyes to o so many different perspectives on what could/should happen or reference back to the foreshadowing of the book. They actually inspired me to read the books. I love the podcast so much they I have gone back to listen to their re-read from 2018.

Love the casual, no judgement, literary vibe

I joined for S8 and stayed for the re-read. I really appreciate the time and energy you both but into this. It’s casual, yet passionate and caring. You’ve created a wonderful community. Bravo!
