I spend 10 hours a day mowing a cemetery in Wyoming, this podcast definitely has helped me to 1) stay sane, and 2) keep up with the meta of the game. Also they’re hilarious
A Great Podcast for a Great Game!

When looking for a new podcast to listen to, I knew that I wanted to do a video game podcast, because playing video games is something I love doing. And as of lately, I’ve been seriously getting into playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on my Nintendo Switch, and having tons of fun with it. I’m consistently getting better and better at the game, and like hearing better player’s takes and opinions on certain aspects of the game and certain playable characters. I then searched up “Smash Bros. Podcasts”, leading me to the Beyond the Metagame Podcast. The three episodes I watched were “5-11: The Eternal Student ft. Dabuz”, “6-1: Some Guy Named Steve”, and “5-2: Are You Carried?” And out of all of these, the most memorable of the episodes was “5-2: Are You Carried?” In the game, carried means that the character you play is so good, that it makes you seem good at the game. This episode made me realize that I indeed am carried by my character. However, that is not going to make me stop using him 😊. If I were to ask you one question, it is how do you get all these PGR and professional players to come on the podcast? I’d imagine they’re always busy and relatively hard to get in contact with, so how you get them on is a mystery to me. As for topics to cover, you both have already done podcasts on certain characters, but I feel that a cool idea would be to start a series where every episode involves an in-depth analysis on one character from the roster, until all the cast as been covered. This is because so many people play so many different characters, therefore every player can have their own analysis. That would be something I would want to watch. Overall, as a Smash Bros. player this was an extremely enjoyable podcast to listen to. You guys both work very well together, are hilarious, and have such an in-depth knowledge of the game and I find myself learning something new every time I put on an episode. I would highly recommend this podcast to anyone who plays Smash or is just wanting something to relax to and have a laugh. I give this podcast five out of five stars, and keep up the good work :)

title AV and Peon never fail to make me enjoy smash bros more. They bounce off of each other in wonderful ways, AV being more of the introspective type and Peon the ‘mover’ per se. The podcast benefits greatly for them both. The interviews are always informative, the jokes are hilarious, the breakdown of the psychological side is something I find fascinating. The best part? They don’t covet their neighbors speedboat. The humor is a bit PG-14 (remember when PG14 was a thing?), and Peon never fails to find that thin balance between comedy and crassness, just like the thin line between pain and pleasure. If you don’t get these jokes, listen to the podcast. You will then. All of this to say, throw some love at our big bois. The scene needs it now more than ever, and it’s a great podcast to boot. Keep on trucking, BtM.

I like this podcast and I wanna boost it in the algorithm bye reviewing since I can’t donate through patreon. This is my favorite way to learn smash because they are cool and nice and it’s not hardcore stuff it’s just chill and you still get to learn the game. I listen to this whilst trying to sleep and playing grindy games. 10/10 pogchamp
