She was known in Tombstone as Big Nose Kate, the common-law wife of Doc Holliday, and at the time of the legendary shootout at the OK Corral in 1881 she was sharing a second floor room with Doc Holiday at Fly's Boarding House- one of the buildings overlooking the vacant lot near the corral where the shootings took place. And she was right there at the window with a front row seat. She wasn't called later as a witness and no one knew she had seen it all until nearly 60 years later when she wrote a letter- one of those letters that historians live to discover.
