With the arrest of Rex Heuermann, attention has been focused on why law enforcement officials didn't make an arrest earlier. Suffolk County Police were in possession of information for nearly a decade that would help identify Heuermann, but a number of officials within the department refused to facilitate the use of the leads, both internally and by the FBI.
