Psychological Horror: Jacob's Ladder vs. Speak No Evil.

Psychological Horror: Jacob's Ladder vs. Speak No Evil.

Dave and Chris never existed. The voices were in your head this WHOLE TIME. But, if you're listening anyway, you might as well take our advice and listen BodyBag's 3rd versus match. Sometimes it's not what you see, but what you imagination creates....or something like that....I think that's what my Film Theory professor said in college. We have two very different films, both in subject matter and.....ahem...enjoyment. "Speak no Evil" and "Jacob's Ladder." Which one is better at mind f*cking the audience and which one is better at just F*cking you out of your time?.

Evil Dead II with Special Guest Andrew Adams

Evil Dead II with Special Guest Andrew Adams

Who doesn't like Evil Dead? That was rhetorical. We don't tolerate any Evil Dead slander.....not this week, anyway. Not with our special guest, Andrew Adams, in the room. Author of Black Widow Blues, Symposium of the Reaper, Infernal Moon, and a plethora of short stories and novels, Andrew stopped by the podcast to talk about how the Evil Dead franchise influenced his writing projects. Listen as we find the humor in Ash Williams slowly loses his mind.

Interesting cases

Listening to this podcast reminded me of the movie Amadeus, when Mozart is offended by the king’s audacity to critique his composition as having “too many notes.” I feel that I must play the offensive king here and declare the male host as too wordy. He cuts off his own thoughts and describes minor matters in excruciating detail. I have no idea where the story is going when he is speaking . When the other host speaks, she is clear and concise, then she’ll throw him a question so he can “respond.” We’re supposed to think they’re having a discussion, but i think he’s responding to her pre-recorded commentary. There is no interaction or chemistry. I think a revamp of the format would make all the difference.
