Breaking Out of Breaking In is a practical, pragmatic filmmaking and storyteller podcast about taking your creative destiny into your own hands, reframing what it takes and means to “break in” to a fundamentally broken industry, and making work that gets seen without playing the Hollywood game (or at least, while changing the rules). Each episode explores a particular subject interrogated and researched by the hosts to turn an obstacle or limitation into an opportunity for listeners, or a conversation with a guest who shares exactly how they broke out, broke in, or circumvented things entirely to define success for themselves.

    Navigating Being a Public Figure

    Navigating Being a Public Figure

Making creative work for public consumption, especially as an indie producer, necessitates some level of being up for public consumption as an artist. We talk through ways to mitigate the worst bits of this, share stories of creepy men on busses and StumbleUpon, and discuss the conflict between actual truth and perceived truth.

Realities of Creating Outside of Mainstream

Bri and Christina are so wonderful to listen to. They share a wealth of knowledge, experience, and stories about their realities filmmaking outside of mainstream with a good dash of social understanding of how different intersections cross and biases impact the industry and craft. Even as a creative in a different medium, I find a lot of these touch points to overlap in other artistic industries. The guests are also super enjoyable and engaging. Thanks for starting this podcast!
