The NeoLiberal Round

Life is about people/how people relate. Yet life is what we make it or allow others to make of it for us creating privileges. The Neoliberal Round is a think tank exploring life. We're interdisciplinary and dynamic; concerning ourselves with global issues and problems so as to serve the world today to solve tomorrow's challenges, by making popular what was the monopoly. We will be bold, deliberate/intentional in our reflections on truths, lifting up issues of ethics/human values. Support us: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theneoliberal/support. Street Vibes Pulse of the Street Season 2 Part 5: US Elections 2024

We are on Temple University main college campus for this episode of The Neoliberal Round: Street Vibes Pulse of the Street Season Part 6. We interviewed two young men who are students about who they will vote for and why. Renaldo also shares that he will vote for the first time: "Tomorrow, I will vote in a US Presidential Election for the first time in my life. And it's on a historical day. For the first time a multicultural woman who identifies as #African, #Indian and American will be on the ballot. It's historical as African Americans and even women weren't allowed to vote. Today an Asia-Africa-American woman is on the ballot. Is this what progress and opportunity looks like? Well, we must first take advantage of the opportunities without politicizing them requiring #Africanunity and spurred by #Africanconsciousness and cultural groundedness?" Renaldo McKenzie. Renaldo McKenzie also discusses the upcoming panel discussion at The Temple Africology Dept. on Wednesday Novermber 5th at 5 - 7pm. 3. Street Vibes Pulse of the Street: Season 2: Part 3: Who Are You Voting For, Harris V Trump?

Street Vibes Pulse of the Street: Season 2: Part 3: Who Are You Voting For, Harris V Trump?

"From one "Black Man" to another "Black man": who are you voting for?" Renaldo McKenzie, Creator and Host took to the streets to interview over 100 black men in Center City Philadelphia asking: Who are you supporting for President and Why, and what is the mood like in your family, neighborhood and workplace, what are they saying, who are they voting for and why? This episode features the first twelve (12) conversations; and it promises to be powerful as African American men discuss why they will or will not vote for the first African American/South Asian Woman. In, fact, we had some major debates as several men joined in while we were interviewing other men about who they will vote for. Some boldly shouted "Trump!" even if he is racist, they will vote for him. Others say "women are too strict!" pointing to the strictness of Mayor Cherelle Parker. What was interesting is that men who seem to be interested in making money under the table promoted "Trump" and one man stated that the Democrats represent the party of Jim Crowe; even though we are in 2024 and that is no longer the case. Yet, many have voted already, or will vote for Harris, some for Trump. It seems to be a split, down the middle in PA. What was interesting is that African American men supporting Trump hoping to get COVID type payout are not concerned with the accusation of Trump inciting an insurrection, and do not remember George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tyre Nichols and Eddie Irrie Zarry; and the police brutality that defined Trump's term where he supported the police and showed no remorse for the blatant attack on "black" peoples by the police and the system. In stead, Trump continues to benefit from the same Police Union who defended the brutality of their cops on "black" people. Yet, "Black" people are out there defending and promoting the same man that has the support of his dogs who defend discrimination and police brutality and extra-judicial killings. Black people forget what has been done to them by those advocating for let's "make America Great Again," an America yesterday that has oppressed, impoverished and destroyed the lives of "black" folk or African Americans. They forget or have no idea about how economic policy and conditions give rise to economic situations such as inflation. Prices are high today largely because of the 4 years of COVID-19 where there was very little productivity. However, Americans were getting payouts, but "black" men were getting pittance and billionaires were getting millions. By the time Harris and Biden came into office they have to now fix the economy as Obama did, applying economic policies to restrict the economy while protecting poor people's lives during these contractionary period. "Black People forget the Affordable Act and the ways it is helping the lives of the poor, middle class or working black Americans who stand to loose a lot if Trump is able to overturn Obamacare. Nevertheless, the "black men were resolute about their support for or against Kamala Harris or Donald Trump. Overcoming Addiction: African Spirituality and Agency

Duron Zuri joins me on the Show to share his short story about how he beat his addiction. It is a story of letting go and letting God he said, tapping into his African Spirituality and developing a consciousness that helped to build his"agency". What is "Agency"? According to Prof. Mazama, Africologists and Chair of the Africology Department at #templeuniversity stated in a Lecture that, agency is the ability to act in one behalf, to move in a way that improves self or for self-improvement. Many struggle to act in ways that help themselves due to a lack of agency. This Agency is what Afrocentricity promotes to challenge the perceptions about people in Africa who lack agency to act in ways that Africans and people have always worked for one's betterment. Faith helps to facilitate this agency, not a Christian one or a Jewish one, but one that speaks to a people's culture and center that revolutionizes consciousness. #africology then becomes an essential aspect of helping to reduce recidivism since it facilitates the development of agency and a change in perception and consciousness, a necessary step towards sobriety and recovery. 5. The Middle East on the Brink – Is World War III Imminent?

    3 OCT

The Middle East on the Brink – Is World War III Imminent?

In this episode of The Neoliberal Round, we dive into one of the most alarming and critical global issues unfolding right now: the escalating conflict in the Middle East, which has the potential to ignite a World War III. As tensions between Israel, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran reach a boiling point, the situation has rapidly evolved from a regional conflict into a crisis with global implications. The episode starts by breaking down the chain of events that have intensified the conflict. We begin with Israel’s heavy-handed response to missile attacks from Hamas, which resulted in over 2,000 Palestinian deaths, most of them innocent civilians. But the conflict took an even more dangerous turn when Israel assassinated a Hezbollah leader with close ties to Iran, dragging Hezbollah—and by extension, Iran—into the fray. In retaliation, Iran launched over 200 ballistic missiles toward Israel. While Israel’s defense systems, bolstered by U.S. technology, managed to intercept most of these missiles, several hit key Israeli military bases, marking a significant escalation in the conflict. This brings us to the central question of the episode: Will Israel retaliate, and if so, what will be the consequences? The potential fallout from an Israeli retaliation could be catastrophic, not just for the Middle East but for the entire world. Unlike Hamas, Iran is a formidable regional power, equipped with advanced ballistic missiles and strong alliances with major global players like Russia, China, and other BRICS nations. A strike on Hezbollah, a close ally of Iran, would be tantamount to declaring war on Iran itself. And Iran is not isolated; it has the backing of powerful nations that could quickly turn this conflict into a global war. We explore the broader geopolitical implications, pointing out that a conflict between Israel and Iran could draw in the U.S., Western Europe, and Japan on one side, while Russia, China, and the BRICS nations—along with other Middle Eastern countries—could form an opposing bloc. Such a scenario would stretch beyond the borders of Israel and Iran, potentially triggering simultaneous conflicts in Taiwan and Ukraine, as China and Russia take advantage of the chaos to advance their own geopolitical interests. Russia has already moved its naval forces closer to the U.S., positioning ships off the coast of Cuba, while China is massing troops near the Taiwanese border, potentially preparing for an invasion. This confluence of crises raises the specter of a multi-front global conflict that could spiral out of control, dragging the world’s most powerful nations into war. In this episode, we also discuss the urgent need for diplomacy. With the stakes so high, the U.S. and its allies must engage with Israel immediately to ensure that any response is measured and calculated to avoid triggering a wider war. The decisions made in the coming days could determine whether the world steps back from the edge of global conflict or plunges headfirst into World War III. The Neoliberal Round offers a detailed and thought-provoking analysis of how this Middle Eastern conflict has become a flashpoint for global tensions, drawing in not just regional actors but the world’s most powerful nations. With Israel on the verge of retaliation and Iran ready to respond, the entire world is watching—and waiting. Will diplomacy prevail, or are we on the brink of a war that will shape the future of global politics? Join us as we analyze this unfolding crisis and its potential to reshape the international order.
