Welcome to Poke the Bear with Conor Ryan

Conor Ryan was born and raised in South Boston and has served as the Boston Bruins beat writer at BostonSportsJournal.com for two seasons now. After graduating from Boston Latin Academy in Roxbury back in 2011, Conor made the arduous three-mile move to Boston University to continue his education. While at BU, Conor served as a beat reporter at The Daily Free Press — BU’s student-run newspaper — for three years. He also held multiple internships at WEEI.com and BostInno during his time in college. During his senior year, Conor managed a staff of 20 writers as sports editor of the “FreeP” while covering the 2014-15 BU men’s hockey team during its run to a national championship game. (Please - no need to mention Providence College). Right after graduating from college, Conor spent the summer of 2015 interning for the Cape Cod Times, serving as the primary beat reporter for the Cape Cod Baseball League. He then served as a Hockey East reporter for SB Nation and Vox Media before joining MassLive.com in the fall of 2015. Over the next three years, Conor covered the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins for MassLive, while eventually serving as the primary Boston Bruins beat reporter for the past two seasons. Conor joined BSJ in the fall of 2018 — adding his own brand of insight, analysis and humor into the Bruins beat for two full seasons now. After trying out several “Bruins” podcasts, this is my favorite. The hosts stay on topic, don’t get into the weeds with mindless banter. Once in a while they hypothesize, but mostly stay current on actual B’s topics - questions and issues that a lot of B fans are thinking.

Conor and Evan always have very valid things to say about the bruins. Love your guys’ coverage on CLNS, keeps me entertained through the boring off-season. There’s plenty of things to talk about out there nonetheless, always good speculation, keep up the good work!
