The Long Game: How to Ramp Up Success in the Short and Long Term

As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day hustle. But what if playing the long game could help you achieve sustained success? Hear me out and let me tell you about this mindset shift that will help you thrive as a purpose-driven company so your personal life and wellbeing can thrive alongside it too. What is the Long-Game Mindset?: I sit down with purpose-driven founders every day, all day, and I help them to get where they want to go and bridge the gap between all the struggles and the things they need to figure out in a way that doesn't sacrifice their personal life and their wellbeing. Here’s what trips them up the most: unhelpful mindsets. Have you ever thought when you're thinking about reaching the next goal, or maybe just going through the day to day of your business, that it's a crunch time that it's a critical time? Or like you really need to focus for the next, you know, X amount of days? When you focus on short-term pressures, your brain literally goes into a survival mode. This mindset biologically changes your hormones and how your brain is operating. It creates stress that lowers your cognitive function, create emotional disconnection from your purpose and customers, and hinders your success. What is happening in your central nervous system is that it's causing you to ramp up things. It actually causes more problems than it fixes. Instead, it's more helpful to adopt a long-term perspective, fostering patience and purposeful energy. Here's a sneak peek into some of the helpful things I cover in today's episode: How You Get There is How You Stay There: Who you are now is who you'll be at every level of success. It's easy to think that things will feel easier after you figure out this next challenge. But if you’re overwhelmed or stressed now, those feelings won’t disappear once you reach your goals. Overwhelm and stress is a nervous system state that you need to learn how to be with and shift. This is a founder skill set. So, you need to address these feelings head-on now, before you reach the goal. It's about who you're being, not what goal you're achieving. Introduction to the CEO Goal-Achievement System: I share four simple things that you should be doing every single day as a founder, that help you reach your goals with more ease. Mindset's, central nervous system regulation, making good decisions, implementing and evaluating - these are all skill sets that you should be using and strengthening each day. Every founder has areas for improvement. Reflect on your current mindset and behaviors, and take steps to shape a more effective, sustainable approach to business. Remember: how you get there is how you stay there. If you’re ready to become a more organized, effective, and confident founder while enhancing your personal life and wellbeing, Simply Sustainable is the program for you. I offer on-demand video lessons, practical tools, and monthly coaching calls so you have a goal-achievement system to plug your business into. You'll understand how your brain and body work and how to naturally improve performance while simplifying everything you do. The best part? These tools grow your business while improving personal life and wellbeing. In This Episode, You'll Learn: > How a long-term mindset differs from the traditional founder approach that is taught. > How to stay emotionally connected to your customers and why this helps > Practical strategies to maintain balance and reduce stress as you grow. > The importance of self-reflection and mindset adjustments. The CEO Goal-Achievement System: Double Revenue and Cut Stress in Half

Launching a business is a rollercoaster journey. I get it. Over the past eight years, I’ve navigated the highs and lows using a set of core tools. These tools have revolutionized, not just my business, but also my personal life. I’ve tested them with numerous founders, and they consistently lead to increased revenue, a simplified business, a more spacious calendar, and more bandwidth for personal life and wellbeing. The Simply Sustainable - CEO System Your business equals your brain. It's how well your brain is making decisions, selling/implementing, and evaluating. That's it. How well you learn to use your brain, will determine your level of success. The CEO System teaches you how to get out of your survival, fear-based brain and into your prefrontal cortex so that you make faster, confident decisions that are more strategic, simpler and easier to implement. You'll show up bigger and bolder, all while feeling more ease and fun. My CEO Goal-Achievement System consists of four parts: 1. Mind-Body Fundamentals: Learn to catch unhelpful thinking and shift to regulated, powerful, abundant emotions. This is the secret sauce that you'll use during all the other 3 parts of the system. 2. Decision-Making: Simplify your business model and strategies, feel in alignment and passionate about a clear, compelling vision that you boldly walk into. Overwhelm, worry, and other fear-based emotions no longer hold you back. 3. Implementation: Reduce the amount your doing and tracking, and implement with more ease and fun. your calendar will shrink, your results will not. 4. Evaluation: Learn how to constantly trim the fat off your strategies. Each week you do more of what's working, less of what's not. This process retrains your brain to handle failure differently so you are constantly creating motivated energy in your business, not the frustration and "I'm behind" energy you fall into now. The reason why I call it the CEO system is because it is a system that you plug your business into.  It's  a container that holds you as the founder. Isn't it nice that there's a “container” that can hold you as the founder? That organizes your thoughts, feelings, actions, strategies? That carries you from struggle to success? No matter what your industry is, no matter what you sell, no matter what you are up against. Tune into this episode to learn more about the 4-part CEO System so you can start to apply these concepts to your company In This Episode, You'll Learn: > The 4-parts of the CEO Goal-Achievement System > Why mind-body fundamentals is part of the system and what it actually means > How you can start applying the CEO Goal Achievement System to your business Mentioned in Today's Episode: > For show notes and links from today's episode go to dobusinessbetterschool.com > Learn more about the Simply Sustainable coaching program to learn DBB’s proven CEO Goal-Achievement System by visiting dobusinessbetterschool.com/coaching

Evaluation: The Secret Sauce to Your Strategy

Evaluation is the secret sauce for business growth and often overlooked by most founders. It provides a structured way to understand what’s working, what’s not, and what to do next.  This process helps you avoid spinning your wheels and enables better decision-making. Before we dive into today's topic, here’s a quick heads-up: Simply Sustainable, my new program, is launching on September 10, 2024! Be sure to join the waitlist for exclusive promotions. Now, let’s get into today's topic. A framework I teach inside Simply Sustainable consists of four core founder skillsets: mind-body fundamentals (more on that later), decision-making, implementation, and evaluation. These four things form what I call - The CEO system.  It's a simple yet powerful goal-achievement framework that ensures you always know what to focus on and where to go next. And evaluation, is like the secret sauce of this system. It's crucial to have a structured evaluation process because it informs your next steps, helping you tweak and optimize your strategies.  To make your evaluations effective, you have to start by getting into a neutral, objective mindset. Stress and negative emotions will cloud your judgment. This is why one of the things we focus alot on in Simply Sustainable is tapping into a CEO mindset. Once you're ready, ask yourself these key questions: 1. What worked? 2. What didn't work how I intended / what could work better? and why? 3. What will I do differently next time? In this episode, I teach exactly how to answer these questions using the most effective part of your brain (your strategic prefrontal cortex, not your survival-focused amygdala). I also share how to simplify your plans coming out of each evaluation so that you are only focused on a few things. This "essentialist approach" compounds growth more effectively than spreading yourself thin and getting bogged down in a busy to-do list. This cyclical process—making decisions, implementing them, and evaluating the results—ensures continuous improvement and growth.  To uplevel your approach as a founder, tune into this episode. And don't forget to join the waitlist for Simply Sustainable. Happy evaluating! In This Episode, You'll Learn: > The importance of evaluation for founders > How to conduct effective evaluations. > The crucial role of mindset in the evaluation process, plus how to get into the right headspace For links mentioned in today's episode, plus show notes and transcript, go to dobusinessbetterschool.com

    18. How To Feel Like You're Never Selling Again

it, but I'd rather not" selling mentality isn't a winning formula to grow your company, founder. But I get it, traditional sales tactics might feel disconnected from your values. So let’s dive into a more aligned, authentic approach to selling, allowing you to sell more and help more people with your product or service without feeling ‘salesy.’ First things first when it comes to selling: you MUST understand the neuroscience of your founder brain and create a sense of safety for your central nervous system. When you don't feel fundamentally safe and aligned with your selling, you will get busy with other stuff, resist sales activities, or create bad marketing messaging. This all happens subconsciously. So rather than bulldozing through insecurities, you must build up your belief in three areas so you are oozing with confidence and a sense of purpose. These three areas are called "The Belief Triad" The Belief Triad 1. Belief in Yourself Confidence in your abilities directly impacts your sales. Work on identifying and addressing personal insecurities. As your confidence grows, you’ll see a corresponding increase in your sales. 2. Belief in Your Offer Your product must be something you believe in. The more confident you are about its value, the better you can communicate this to potential buyers. 3. Belief in Your Customer Trust that your customers are capable and eager to buy from you and solve their problems with your help. This belief transforms is often overlooked and impacts your messaging the most! Redefining Selling Many founders also have a skewed perception of selling, often negative. It's essential to shift this mindset.  Selling is not about convincing; it’s about educating and helping customers see the value in solving their problems. Don't limit your impact to mere transactions. Your entire sales funnel, from awareness to decision-making, is an opportunity to educate, inspire, and serve.  Your selling is where you can truly impact the world. Your selling, if designed correctly should be the thing you LOVE doing most. Focus on providing value at every stage to create a more meaningful engagement with your audience. Ready to make sales in a way that aligns with your values?  In This Episode, You'll Learn: > The importance of creating CNS safety around your selling > How to build your belief and confidence in yourself, your offer, and your customer. > How to align your selling with your values so you LOVE doing it.
