by design episode #90: Viv Mabuni // Open Hands Willing Heart

Viv Mabuni is on the podcast today, and she’s telling us all about her new book “Open Hands Willing Heart: Discovering the Joy of Saying Yes to God“!!! Viv draws on the example of biblical heroes, particularly Esther, to share life-giving wisdom about what it looks like to surrender all in the midst of uncertainty and fear. As she explains, “When our hearts are surrendered to Him and aligned with His will, we draw closer to Him in a way that unleashes His grand purposes for our lives.”

Viv is a wife, mom, speaker, writer, bible teacher, and she has 30 years ministry experience on staff for Cru. Yep, all that AND she’s starting her own podcast here soon (be sure to listen in to hear all about it). She’s also written for She Reads Truth and has spoken at the IF:Gathering conference in Texas. It’s fair to say sweet Viv is keeping those hands of hers open to serve and love in Jesus’ name.

On top of all that, Viv also just so happens to be one of the most kind-hearted, open and genuine Christian leaders I’ve ever met. She’s definitely someone to follow; an important and needed voice in our generation. Her unique perspective as an Asian American woman speaking and pressing into our Christian circles is something you don’t want to miss out on. I hope you tune in and make sure you go buy her book!

by design episode #89: repurposed bifold doors

Episode #89 is all about re-purposing the bi-fold doors that you don’t use anymore. I share a diy on how to make a bench and also lots of other good options for re-purposing them.

Be sure to check out the By Design Podcast pinterest board to see all the fun ideas. I’m really pretty specific about what I pin too, making sure to include only options that are design worthy. Let’s just say there are TONS of diys out there, and not all of them are ones I’d recommend to grace your home 😉

    Thanks so much for listening!

by design episode #88: the space in between

A new episode is here guys! Today I’m giving a little back story on where the podcast has been since it’s been m.i.a for a few months now. I also dig in to scripture and share a story about how God is always with us, even when we’re feeling lost in the space in between where we’ve been and where we’re headed.

We also chat IF:Dallas from this year and I share how that has impacted me.

I just love this!

This podcast was such a breath of fresh air. I heard about it for the first time on Joanna Ivey's instagram. So I first listened to her episode, and it is actually what the Lord use to press my heart toward adoption a lot earlier in life than my husband and I had originally planned. You've changed the trajectory of our lives for the better, Lyndsye and Dannette! Keep working on this special podcast; it has been life changing!

Encouraging and heart-warming podcast!

I only recently discovered Lyn and Dannette's podcast, but I love what I've heard so far. They are easy to listen to and provide encouragement for my day. I especially love their segment "The Verb" with Dr. Heather Holleman. It's caused me to look at the verbs in scripture in a whole new light. Thank you ladies for the light you bring into the world. Also, I'm not so into "design" but I'm learning from both of you!

Refreshing, real and radiant truths for women

This podcast has been such a delight and encouragement for me. My family and I recently moved to this area, and with that transition as well as taking care of small children, this has been a place for me to find uplifting truth, always pointing me to God's word as well as encouragement to be real and live right where God has me, for such a time as this. Lyn and Danette are two women who love the Lord, are chasing Him with their whole lives, and it shows by the way they radically and humbly talk about the Lord in their daily lives. It is always fun too to listen to the amazing guests they have on, and let's be honest, I am always in need of more wonderful design advice for your home. If you are looking for a place to be welcomed, encouraged, challenged and set free from lies, this is the place for you. And also prepare to laugh, cry and jump in excitement through the life stories that are told. A beautiful place to be.
