Tales from the Potts House: William Hope Hodgson
Out-of-copyright adventure, horror, and science fiction by William Hope Hodgson
highly recomended
2007/12/30
The story itself is actually pretty fun, even though it is written in a faux archaic style - there are hints of it in Mike Mignola's Hellboy story the Island which at least in tradepaper back is dedicated to William Hope Hodgson. It's a very good place to get started on one of the more influential if neglected writers of sci-fiction and the macabre. The reading is well done and except for a few distortions very professional sounding. The music and sound effects match perfectly with the story and give it a greater sense of atmosphere. Overall highly recommended for adventurous listeners that have an affinity towards older works. Can't wait for the follow up recording.
