Dear Thad Komorowski

One of the best I've heard regardless of the subject matter. I'm a big fan of animation, specifically classic cartoons, and these guys KNOW what they are talking about. This podcast is loaded with history, info, and opinion. I just found this podcast a few days ago and have been listening to it constantly, but I'm also very bummed because the number of episodes released look to be few and far between these days (I'm sure they are both busy people). There's mention of a Patreon in some of their episodes, which I'd be all over, but they must have discontinued it.

Some BLISTERING takes here (“Ub Iwerks is the most overrated animator!”) but always leavened with a hard-earned PRACTICAL knowledge that’s often entirely absent in other discussions. Every episode is an amazing journey—the depth of knowledge on both animation history and technique is impressive, but even more valuable to me are the well-articulated and provocative opinions that had me re-examining many of my own long-held views. Whereas “The Animation Discourse” too often winds up either obsessing over minutiae or cheerleading the latest/“greatest”, Thad and Bob recenter the discussion on the essential question, “IS IT GOOD?” Or rather, “WHY is it good?” To do this, they may even look at some “bad” cartoons, but always for the purpose of extracting worthwhile lessons.

Excellent podcast. The dynamic between the two hosts is solid and leaves you wanting more. Brutally honest criticism of the art of classic animation. Cannot recommend enough.
