I love Brie’s approach - it’s the perfect combination of traditional financial advice plus the often overlooked psychology of our relationship with money. It’s changed my perspective in so many ways and my life is better already because of it. Please keep it coming Brie!
So helpful!

I love that her approach to money is more about solving the problem by getting to the root issues! I’ve done some of her free workshops and gotten so much out of them and this podcast is no different. Lots of juicy nuggets to be learned :)
Debunking the myth of emergency funds

I don’t know where to start. This episode is SO WRONG! Every financial planner will tell you - you need a 3-6 month emergency fund. This is 3-6 months of your monthly expenses to get you through a job loss, illness, whatever! You don’t want to go back to using credit cards!!! If you are debt free and have a 3-6 month emergency fund you have peace and can financially ride out a storm. The purpose of the $1000 baby emergency fund is to keep you from using credit cards while you are working like a crazy person to eliminate your consumer debt - of course $1000 isn’t going to work long term. After your consumer debt is paid off you then get the REAL EMERGENGY FUND IN PLACE! This podcaster is totally off base - a car oil change is not an emergency! It is part of your monthly budget! You need to sit down every month and look at your needs and budget for them! Things like annual expenses (insurance, taxes, Christmas) these need to be saved for in a sinking fund so the money is there when you need it - the month it is due. I thought I would like this podcast after listening to this woman on another podcast which I find helpful but this lady has it all wrong! Not only that she rants on and on and often makes no sense. Just shows anyone can do a podcast - but not everyone can do them well.
Every time I listen I get more out of what Brie says

There was a moment in the podcast that I listened to today, where Brie is talking about giving AND receiving… about how we have placed a moral judgement that joyful giving is good, but joyful receiving is greed… and that there has to be balance to have either. Then she told Ashley story about receiving positive words and it FLOORED me, for all intents and purposes, she was talking about me! At 52 years old, it took me DECADES to be able to RECEIVE (joyful or not, just to receive) a complement. I could give them with abandon but never felt worthy of receiving. I felt like if I even said thank you, I was being a braggart, that I HAD to downplay any good thing said about me (usually with a dose of self deprecating humor). It was not until someone incredibly important to me revealed that MY inability to take the complement they gave, diminished THEIR joy in giving it to me. I started reevaluating why I felt the way I did and after a LOT of soul searching and uncomfortable expansion of my limiting beliefs, I can JOYFULLY receive a complement. Brie and her message resonate on such a deep level to what many of us women (and dudes too) struggle with, financially, emotionally, physically. Thank you Brie. You are the real deal.
