CDL40: Achieving Chronic Wellness with Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers

Carpe Diem Living

In this episode, Shane chats with Dr. Elizabeth Rodgers, a graduate of the Disparities Leadership Program at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. She is an alumna of the University of Pittsburgh where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in psychology, Master’s in public health, and Doctorate in epidemiology with a focus on understanding barriers associated with chronic illness and disability prevention. After spending over a decade serving as a chronic disease specialist and clinical researcher in traditional healthcare, Dr. Rodgers now has her own practice, Healthy Transformations with Heart, where she is an expert holistic health coach and healer.

14 years ago, she was left bleeding internally after a surgery, without her doctor telling her of her condition. 14 days later, she was in the hospital, literally hours from her death in septic shock. She even had to say goodbye to her family and friends as she was told that there is only one-in-a-million shot of coming of this alive, but against all odds, she survived.

Her survival was only the beginning of her fight. She then battled tons of mental, emotional, and physical, chronic illnesses, pain symptoms and conditions. She spent years going from specialist to specialist and receiving only temporary management solutions, without getting definite answers to healing. This frustration with traditional healthcare is just one of her many reasons why she walked away from being a traditional healthcare provider and created her holistic approach that she now delivers through her practice, with the goal of helping others achieve their optimal health, mind, body, and spirit.
