Just joined the party!

After finishing up American Desis, I discovered Chai Tea Party. I binge listened to them at work. They mostly provide insightful discussions into various topics surrounding the south Asian community.

I would caution Tiffany and Shama against saying things like, “she was South Indian, so obviously she was dark.” Even though it was later iterated that this girl was beautiful, I honestly consider this a fluke. (As in, They didn’t mean anything bad by it). However it’s similar to a lot of stereotypes being perpetuated about Indians/other races. As a Telugu girl myself, I dated a Gujarati who was darker than me. It doesn’t matter where you’re from. That statement in of itself is perpetuating a stereotype. A stereotype which many people deal with the negative connotations of on a daily basis. Again, this wasn’t intentional so it’s just something I’m bringing about so that they could be more aware.

I really resonated with the dating episodes, mental health episodes, and Shama and Tiffany’s struggles with therapy and overall trying to better themselves.

Love it!

I loved the reminiscing of things we didn't appreciate growing but are now such an in thing.....smelling like coconut oil. I agree personal time is so very therapeutic, if only we could be disciplined about it. Great topics!
