019 What are You Waiting for?

019 What are You Waiting for?

Have you ever felt inconvenienced by needing to schedule personal appointments like a routine doctor’s appointment, a car service, taking care of things around the house, or taking care of something for your partner, parents, or children?
I remember feeling so busy that I didn’t have time for these types of things. If it was something that I really needed to be done right away, I would often do it with a feeling of resentment and annoyance.
I have come to learn that if you’re willing to practice some new things and if you’re willing to be wrong—then one step at a time, you can rewire yourself to choose differently. I did it and so can you.

    What You’ll Learn:
    - What I used to say to myself when I would put things off, especially things for myself
    - What my life is like now in regards to being busy
    - How choosing differently starts with small things
    - What short sentence was on one of the most clever social media posts I’ve ever seen
    - What you may really be waiting for

Now that I understand more about how our brains work, I really get how hard it seems to break our habits, because every change we make, every new choice, shows up internally—especially to the survival part of our brain—as if we are stepping out of our comfort zone and heading into a danger zone, even when the changes would make us happier.
Waiting for anything is a decision you are making and you may want to check in on the reason behind it. Oftentimes your survival brain is confused, and in trying to keep you safe, it’s actually keeping you from something that could help set you free from your old, unhealthy habits.
I am hosting a live 3-day workshop coming up September 26-28th about finding Better Life Balance. Come join me. It’s totally free and I know you will get value from spending this time with me. Speaking of time, it’s not a huge time commitment. It’s only one hour per day. You can sign up at https://charisyourlife.com/workshop.

    018 Wisdom Seeker

    018 Wisdom Seeker

Today I’m talking about being a ‘Wisdom Seeker.’
A friend of mine describes me as a ‘seeker’ because I am always seeking improvement and wanting to learn about myself, figure things out, and really engage in life.
I used to chase after external things in life, and boy would I grasp at things, experiences, and people that I thought would bring me success and happiness. Somewhere along the way, I discovered that wasn’t working.
So now I’m a seeker of wisdom.

    What You’ll Learn:
    - What being a ‘Wisdom Seeker’ means to me
    - What a life of full self-expression means for me
    - How I chose new coaches and programs to enroll in this year
    - How I discern between FOMO and my wise inner voice
    - How learning is a cure for what ails you

I hope that my podcast helps you learn and find some wisdom about your own life. And I hope you never stop being a Wisdom Seeker yourself.

    016 My Birthday Story

    016 My Birthday Story

This week (on September 7th), I turn 47 years young/old! Years ago, I came across a little 3”x5” notebook with a panda bear on the cover that had my Mom’s handwritten notes inside about the day I was born.
I haven’t read this in many years, so it’s almost as if I’m reading it for the first time with you today, and you get to hear my reactions as I go.

    What You’ll Learn:
    - Who delivered me into this world (It’s hilarious!! It could be straight out of a Marvel comic book!)
    - How she felt throughout the experience and her interactions with my Dad and the nurses
    - How my parents chose my name “Charis”

This notebook is a sweet gift from my Mom. She passed away in 2013, and I’m so grateful I found this story of my birthday.

015 Leap of Faith: I went Skydiving 1 Year after Hot Air Balloon Accident

015 Leap of Faith: I went Skydiving 1 Year after Hot Air Balloon Accident

Today, I am sharing a special memory connected to overcoming fears and trauma. I went skydiving with my husband Don when we were dating in 1995, barely a year after my family’s tragic hot air balloon accident. That may sound crazy, and yet it was one of the most amazing things I've ever done.
I’ve kept journals sporadically throughout my life, and just a few days ago, I happened across an entry I wrote right after we jumped out of the plane. During today’s episode, I read that for the first time in 27 years, plus I share some additional story snippets.
Here’s one excerpt from my journal: “I've gained a little more peace with myself. It's so confusing and frustrating to try to decide when, where, and how to take risks.”

    What You’ll Learn:
    - How I initially went along for the ride, not intending to jump
    - Why I decided to jump out of a plane by myself
    - How I felt as I climbed out to the plane’s wing arm and let go
    - My parents’ reaction when they found out
I wanted to share this story to show what's possible. I hope that it will give you a little drop of courage to help you overcome a piece of your past in some way.

Excellent!

I’ve been listening to Charis’ podcasts while traveling in the car to visit my kids. It’s like a friend is in the car talking to me! She shares such wonderful insights and motivational thoughts! Thank you Charis! I’m really enjoying your podcasts!

Simply live

I was impressed! I listened to all of them today, one right after the other. I think we kind of sort of know these things you talk about but actually having to implement even one intention can be difficult. We don’t know how!! Your blogs were well orchestrated, meaningful, and important. Most of all, you have achieved what I think is is most important and that is how to simply live our lives. Thank you Charis.

Calm, Clear, Confident!

Charis’ voice is soothing and I love that the episodes are short—perfect for those of us who are already overwhelmed! I also noticed that the episodes have actionable steps, which makes the show that much more impactful!
