Chernobyl Recap

One of the best ones I’ve listened to. But I would say if you want to hear more detailed information I suggest people listen to HBO’s The Chernobyl Podcast with the creator, writer, and executive producer Craig Mazin. Interesting little fact: The miners actually didn’t have to build the tunnel in the end, because it didn’t melt through the lower barrier! The only things I would say: 1. is that when you were discussing the 1st episode of the show talking about the firefighters you missed a massive point. In the show the actual phone call recordings when they call for the firefighters they are told in that call that it was a fire on the roof. That’s what he tells his wife is that it’s tar on the roof that’s burning. 2. Scherbina was referring to himself when he said “I’ve known braver men than you who have caved under the bullet.” 3. Dyatlov apparently had worked with nuclear turbines else where pre-Chernobyl. He had suffered a major accident where the similar situation of it melting down and he survived the radiation. He had a son who supposedly died from the radiation that he was bringing home on his clothes.
