117: Becoming a Detective of Her Own Body: How Annie Reversed Type 2 Diabetes, Healed Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Lost 55 Pounds, and Found Food Freedom With a Plant-Based Diet

In this episode, I interviewed Annie, a Dirty from our community, and we unpack a lot and talk about how she:  🧡 Completely reversed type 2 diabetes 🧡 Healed her non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) 🧡 Lost 55 pounds 🧡 Found food freedom after a long struggle with disordered eating  She did all of this by eating a whole-food plant-based diet. 😮 The power of plants is so freaking incredible! Oh, and her breast cancer is in remission, and she’s found her joy and is excited about life again. Initially, Annie wasn’t sure about making this switch because it was totally different from how she was used to eating. But, she found her way with it and was as shocked as her doctors with the results.  One of her powerful mindset shifts was viewing food as fuel and taking the emotion out of eating. If you’ve struggled with disordered eating or are struggling with health issues (or know someone who is), this episode is an absolute must-listen! (And share it with your friends, too!) Things we discuss How whole-food plant-based eating has a profound impact on health Food freedom and a focus on nourishing the body rather than strict rules or perfectionism Addressing emotional and psychological aspects of health alongside dietary changes, and the potential for holistic healing The power of food as medicine and the possibility of reclaiming vibrant health Honoring hunger cues and recognizing satiation Becoming a detective of your own body Weight loss is a slow and steady process The importance of sharing your knowledge and supporting others Links and resources mentioned in this episode Batching Bootcamp Clean Food Dirty Girl Facebook group Start a free 10-day trial to Plant Fueled Life About Clean Food Dirty Girl helps people eat more plants while celebrating human imperfection.
