How to Stand | Coastal Community Church

How to Stand | Coastal Community Church

I Corinthians 16:13-14 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.

Daniel 3:12 But there are some Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon—Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego—who pay no attention to you, Your Majesty. They neither serve your gods nor worship the image of gold you have set up.”

Daniel 3:13-14 Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. So these men were brought before the king, and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up?

     Standing firm TAKES COURAGE.

Daniel 3:16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not worried about what will happen to us.” Courage isn’t the ABSENCE of fear. Courage is standing firm IN SPITE of my fear.

     Standing firm REQUIRES FAITH.

Daniel 3:17-18 TLB “If we are thrown into the flaming furnace, our God is able to deliver us; and he will deliver us out of your hand, Your Majesty. But if he doesn’t, please understand, sir, that even then we will never under any circumstance serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have erected.”

If we don’t stand FOR SOMETHING, we will fall FOR ANYTHING.

Daniel 3:26-27 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!” So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on

    them.

     Standing firm INSPIRES OTHERS.

Daniel 3:28-30 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.” Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

We are called to be a VOICE not an ECHO.

    1. Stand in PRAYER.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Ephesians 6:13-14a Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done

everything, to stand. Stand firm then…

    2. Stand for MY PURPOSE.

I Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

    3. Stand for GOD.

Matthew 10:32 MESS “Stand up for me against world opinion and I’ll stand up for you before my Father in heaven.”

Colossians 3:1 …where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Acts 7:55-56 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”

When Culture Attacks | Coastal Community Church

When Culture Attacks | Coastal Community Church

So how do you live out your faith when culture shifts?

Daniel 1:7 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name

Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah,

    Abednego.

    1. Culture wants to CHANGE your IDENTITY.

    DANIEL-“God is my judge”

    Belteshazzar- “Lady, protect the King”

    HANANIAH- “Yahweh has been gracious”

Shadrach- “I am fearful of God”

MISHAEL- “Who is what God is?”

Meshach- “I am despised, contemptible and humiliated.”

    AZARIAH- “Yahweh has helped”

    Abednego- “Servant of Nebo”

When culture shifts, you have to know WHO YOU ARE.

Daniel 1:8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine,

and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.

    2. Culture wants you to COMPROMISE your STANDARDS.

When culture shifts, we must REAFFIRM our CONVICTIONS.

Daniel 1:9-10 Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to

Daniel,   but the official told Daniel, “I am afraid of my lord the king, who has

assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other

young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.”

Daniel 1:11-14 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed

over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah,   “Please test your servants for ten

days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our

appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your

servants in accordance with what you see.” So he agreed to this and tested them

    for ten days.

    3. Culture will always CREATE a CONFRONTATION.

When culture shifts, we must respond the RIGHT WAY.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen

his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of

    grace and truth.

    TRUTH: God’s standard.

John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

    GRACE: God’s favor.

Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you

can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the

good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

    Without truth, we are CORRUPT.

Without grace, we are all CONDEMNED.

    Without truth, we become WORLDLY.

Without grace, we would become JUDGMENTAL.

    Truth without grace is MEAN.

    Grace without truth is MEANINGLESS.

Truth and grace is good MEDICINE.

Grace INVITES us to be free.

    Truth SETS us free.

John 8:3-11 NLT   As he was speaking, the teachers of religious law and the

Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in the act of adultery. They put

her in front of the crowd.   “Teacher,” they said to Jesus, “this woman was caught in

the act of adultery.   The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?”   They

were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus

stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.   They kept demanding an

answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never

sinned throw the first stone!”   Then he stooped down again and wrote in the

dust.   When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with

the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the

woman.   Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your

accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”   “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus

said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.”

Easter 2024 | Coastal Community Church

Easter 2024 | Coastal Community Church

If the tomb is EMPTY then ANYTHING is POSSIBLE.

Luke 24:1-7 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women

took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone

rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of

the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in

clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women

bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do

you look for the living among the dead?    He is not here; he has risen! Remember

how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be

delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised

    again.’”

Luke 9:22 And he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected

by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and he must be

killed and on the third day be raised to life.”

Luke 9:44 “Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is

going to be delivered into the hands of men.”

Luke 18:31-33 Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, “We are going up to

Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will

be fulfilled. He will be delivered over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult

him and spit on him; they will flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise

    again.”

Luke 24:9-11 When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the

Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of

James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not

believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.

Luke 24:25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all

    that the prophets have spoken!

Luke 24:26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his

    glory?”

God is JUST, so payment for sin had to be MADE, but God is LOVE, so He

    made that payment HIMSELF.

Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in

you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies

because of his Spirit who lives in you.

Easter is not just something you can CELEBRATE, but Easter is something

    you can EXPERIENCE.

You can make a Difference - Coastal Community Church

You can make a Difference - Coastal Community Church

James 2:14 - 17 NLT What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have

faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?

Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say,

“Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t

give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by

itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 MSG Even though I am free of the demands and

expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in

order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous

moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I

didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their

world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I’ve become just

about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-

saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn’t just want to talk about it; I

wanted to be in on it!

    1. Value PEOPLE.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23…..I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in

order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous

moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever.

    2. You don’t have to be LIKE them to be LIGHT to them.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23…..I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in

    Christ….

1 Peter 3:15 … Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to

give the reason for the hope that you have…

    3. See from a DIFFERENT perspective

1 Corinthians 9:19-23….but I entered their world and tried to experience things

    from their point of view….

    4. Get CREATIVE

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 ….I’ve become just about every sort of servant there is in

my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life….

    5. Never forget WHY

1 Corinthians 9:19-23 …. I did all this because of the Message. I didn’t just want

to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it!

Romans 10:13-15 NLT For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be

saved. “But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And

how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they

hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them

without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of

    messengers who bring good news!”

Gifts From A Friend - Coastal Community Church

Gifts From A Friend - Coastal Community Church

2 Corinthians 13:14 Message “The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the

extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of

    you.”

    3 GIFTS IN SCRIPTURE

     ETERNAL LIFE.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in

    Christ Jesus our Lord.

     The HOLY SPIRIT.

Acts 1:4-5 “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised,

which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few

days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

     SPIRITUAL gifts.

Romans 12:6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.

1 Corinthians 12:1 Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be

    ignorant.

1 Corinthians 12:11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives

them to each one, just as he determines.

1 Corinthians 14:23-25 So if the whole church comes together and everyone

speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in,

will they not say that you are out of your mind?

    Gifts From A Friend

1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts…

    1. His gifts are UNIQUE.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There

are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of

working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

    2. His gifts are NEEDED.

1 Corinthians 12:27 NLT Now all of you together are Christ’s body, and each one

of you is a separate and necessary part of it.

    3. His gifts are FULFILLING.

John 15:8, 11 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing

yourselves to be my disciples. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you

and that your joy may be complete.

    4. His gifts touch OTHER PEOPLE’S lives.

1 Peter 4:10 NLT God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of

spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God's generosity can flow through you.”

A spiritual gift is a SPECIAL SUPERNATURAL ABILITY that God gives to

each of His children, so that together they can ADVANCE HIS PURPOSES in

    this world.

A new found Gem

Just found out about this podcast recently and its just what I needed. A daily focus on God is such a vital important part of my life (that I have neglected) for so long and im really working hard on it. So this podcast has added a much needed chapter in that journey.
An important part of Coastal is how everyone is so friendly and welcoming . Our pastors are a clear image of that. Its great to hear our pastors go over the weekly message in the midweek. Great podcast
