The Video Archives Podcast with Quentin Tarantino & Roger Avary
Quentin Tarantino & Roger Avary invite you to become a customer at Video Archives, the video store where it all began. Joined by their trusty producer Gala Avary, they’ll travel back in time to revisit old classics and discover new favorites, pulled from the thousands of actual VHS tapes that Quentin & Roger used to recommend to customers back in the day at the original Video Archives store in Manhattan Beach. From controversial James Bond films to surprising exploitation flicks, the Video Archives team will expose you to movies you didn't know you'd love, give awards to their favorites, and of course, rate the quality of the video transfer.

Not cool, guys.

Let me start by saying that I’m a fan of Quentin Tarantino. He’s a great filmmaker and knowledgable cineaste. The Video Archives Podcast is one of many movie-themed podcasts that I listen to because I gain a lot out of it. But this new model of hiding most of the show behind a paywall does no favors for its subscribers and illustrates how out of touch these two are. Not all of us can afford to subscribe. Some of us have bills. Now, I understand that it’s not Tarantino and Avary’s problem—I’m not trying to foist my own issues on them—but what I am saying is be mindful of the kind of people your base consists of before you decide to create a paywall. This is not okay, especially since we’re going to be seeing rapidly rising costs in the future.
Et tu, Quentin?

I suppose I should be used to paying for things that used to be free these days. But I had to voice my disappointment here, just because I had really been looking forward to season 2 of this podcast, only for most of it to be hidden behind a paywall. To call this a drag would be an understatement. I guess QT isn’t quite rich enough yet. I may or may not keep listening, but there’s no chance I will subscribe to the Patreon. Shame on you, guys. 👎🏼

Tarantino is a barely literate loudmouth and everyone around him a sycophantic toe sucker. He is a talentless hack, and those of you with Scarface posters on your wall will see the light one day. Not only the luckiest man in the film industry but the one who has most bought into his own hype, he hasn’t made a great movie in 28 years, by my count, and that was his only one. But no, please, by all means…I love hearing QT mispronounce the name of every famous actor and well known word, and I can’t get enough of those masturbatory ads for his poorly written tome. Oh, and MORE GALA AVERY! Give the gal(a) her own show! Because that’s what everyone was asking for.

I absolutely love this podcast! As a former student in a film school (many years ago), this podcast has helped to reignite my interest in films! As a result of this podcast, I have discovered so many great films that I had not heard of before, especially the Giallo films! However, now I only get to hear/learn about 33.3% of the content unless I pay a subscription? Look, I already pay a lot for internet, cellular, and for the phone that I am using right now. Can you at least make the transcripts available at 100%? That way we can at least have access to all the content.
