BURIED UNDER THE BLUE with Melissa Arechiga

BURIED UNDER THE BLUE with Melissa Arechiga

In this episode, Melissa from Buried Under the Blue tells us about this community effort to talk about 3 historical communities: La Loma, Bishop, and Palo Verde. These communities were diverse and included working class Black and Brown families, as well as indigenous communities. The communities now sit under the Dodger Stadium and you need to hear how this happened. Melissa's own family was displaced by the city of Los Angeles with other families who now are speaking up! No more displacements and gentrification in our communities is what they are fighting for. And, this week marks the one year anniversary of their protest on Dodger Stadium. Our previous guests Ivette, Wendy, and Edin speak on this demonstration during the Indigenous Heritage Month event at Dodger Stadium. Sign their petition and learn more at buriedundertheblue.com . They are also on IG, Twitter, and Facebook under BURIED UNDER THE BLUE. Follow us! Let us know what you think! Leave a review! Contact us at communityarchivespodcast@gmail.com
