  1. Surprised By: Peace

    DEC 15

    Surprised By: Peace

In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed; yet, amidst the noise, there’s a profound peace that transcends all understanding. As we navigate through the busyness of this year-end season, let’s remember the words of John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” This promise reminds us that true peace is not found in our circumstances but in a deeper connection. Let us embrace this gift of peace and share it with those around us; and may we find comfort in knowing that we are never alone. If you are new to Community Church, WELCOME! 2. Surprised By: Hope

    DEC 1

    Surprised By: Hope

As we continue to chase for greater things, it’s easy to overlook the small beginnings that hold immense potential. Just like the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand, every little step we take matters. As we navigate through challenges and uncertainties, let us remember the words from Zechariah 4:10: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin.” Each moment of hope, each act of kindness, and every dream nurtured is a foundation for something greater. Join us on Sunday as we kick off a new sermon series centred around Advent and let us embrace our small beginnings together! If you are new to Community Church, WELCOME! 3. For the Sake of the World: Gratefulness

    NOV 24

For the Sake of the World: Gratefulness

In a world that is often filled with rushing around, let us take a moment to pause and reflect on the blessings around us. In the excitement of it all, let us remember to express our gratitude for the opportunities and connections these moments bring. Indeed, Ephesians 5:20 reminds us to “always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” This season, let's celebrate the spirit of community and togetherness. Whether you're attending a local festival or welcoming visitors from afar in this season, let gratitude be at the heart of our interactions. If you are new to Community Church, WELCOME! Then their eyes were opened and they recognised him, and he disappeared from their sight. James 1:17: Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. Philippians 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  4. For the Sake of the World: Beauty

    NOV 17

For the Sake of the World: Beauty

Living in a world that often prioritises outward appearances, it is important for us to remember that the true essence of beauty lies within. As 1 Peter 3:4 reminds us, "Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” With this encouragement, let us then seek to cultivate a spirit that shines brightly amidst the chaos. Together, we can inspire others to see beyond the surface, recognise the profound worth of inner beauty, and celebrate our unique journeys to uplift one another! For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 1 Peter 3:3-4: Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. Isaiah 53:2-3:He grew up before him like a tender shoot,    and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,    nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.He was despised and rejected by mankind,    a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.Like one from whom people hide their faces    he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

  5. For the Sake of the World: Evangelism

    NOV 10

For the Sake of the World: Evangelism

In a world where uncertainty looms and hope often feels distant, we are called to stand firm in our faith. As 1 Peter 3:15 reminds us, “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” That is a wonderful reminder that each of us can contribute to a greater narrative of faith and unity, inspiring others to seek and find their own hope in Christ. Together, we can be vessels of God’s love, reaching out to those who feel lost or disconnected.  If you are new to Community Church, WELCOME! We would love to get to know you. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?" (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." "Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?" Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

  6. For the Sake of the World: Goods (Part 2)

    OCT 27

For the Sake of the World: Goods (Part 2)

In a city as vibrant and dynamic as Hong Kong, we are blessed with opportunities to excel in many areas—faith, speech, knowledge, and love. As we navigate these bustling streets and towering skyscrapers, let's also remember to excel in the grace of giving. In these times of change and growth, let's focus on how we can contribute to our community and the world around us as we are inspired by 2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV), which says: "But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” Together, let's make Hong Kong a beacon of hope and kindness. If you are new to Community Church, WELCOME! We would love to get to know you. Please fill in the following form and we look forward to connecting with you: https://bit.ly/cc-new-connect You can find all timely and relevant links from this service on https://bit.ly/cc-links You can also find out more about us at https://communitychurch.hk/ ================This Week's Scripture:// 1 Timothy 6:6-10, 17-19 //But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs... Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
