Food and T1D

I developed T1D at 33 in bad marriage w/2 small children, and in recovery from bulimia. My ED was dormant for several years before diagnosis, but faced w/“diabetic diet” it was restriction all over again until… I managed to draw on what I’d learned from my ED re food- like how/what I wanted to eat. I remember clearly deciding I’d figure out how diabetes affected my body not just eat whatever &take insulin to cover (provider advice)- a long process but I feel I have agency- tho management is still stressful at some point almost every day- i heard folks w/T1 make 300 decisions/day(!!) of course that’s on top of the others we have to make…love yr conversations! Thank you!

I like your show. Always something interesting. Just a little something to blow your mind. My dad wasn’t diabetic, but back in the 60s and through the mid 70s, at the height of his military career, he used to drink close to 50 cups a day. He didn’t know the word moderation. He always had a cup in his hand and was also a workaholic. I could go 3 or 4 days in a row not seeing him because he wasn’t home when I went to bed and was gone when I got up.
Whoa! Great type one diabetic podcast.
