The Evolution in Physics Modeling & When to Use AI! - Andy Fine | Podcast #141

Andy on LinkedIn:   / andy-fine-6091278   Andy Fine is a passionate engineer with a deep curiosity for understanding how things work, which he believes is the foundation of any engineer's journey. Over the course of his career, he has transitioned from engineering into the commercialization of software, holding leadership roles such as Director at Dassault, Vice President at Altair, and Commercial Head for an AI startup. This unique combination of technical and business expertise led him to launch Fine Physics, a company dedicated to rethinking the current physics and AI software model to better serve engineers. Andy relocated to the USA from the UK, recognizing that the $30 billion engineering software industry has significant opportunities, with the U.S. representing approximately 30% of the global market. Having conducted business in Europe, Japan, South Korea, India, and the U.S., he values the universal language of physics, which transcends cultural differences among engineers. With a pragmatic approach to AI, Andy focuses on practical machine learning and AI applications for 3D engineering and physics prediction, steering clear of generalized technologies like large language models. He works in two primary areas: helping companies adopt AI technologies with minimal risk and assisting startups and scale-ups in positioning their products, solving critical engineering challenges, and achieving market success. Andy’s perspective is shaped by his engineering foundation and commercial expertise, emphasizing that while tools like physics and AI enable faster and more thorough problem-solving, they cannot replace the experience of a skilled engineer. His extensive experience includes creating strategic go-to-market initiatives, managing and mentoring sales and technical teams, developing international business, and driving channel management. Andy is committed to empowering engineers and organizations to innovate more effectively and sustainably.
