The Core Christianity radio program was created to address a growing problem in the United States—people do not understand what the Bible teaches. Seminary professor, author, and theologian Michael Horton helped launch the show that is now hosted by Pastor Adriel Sanchez and Dr. Bill Maier.

Adriel Sanchez is pastor of North Park Presbyterian Church, a congregation in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, he also serves the broader church as the host of the Core Christianity national radio broadcast.

Dr. Bill Maier is a veteran broadcaster with a background in both general market and Christian radio. He also holds a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Biola University in Southern California. Many listeners may be familiar with Bill's work for the national media ministry Focus on the Family, where he hosted the “Weekend Magazine” program and the “Family Minute with Dr. Bill Maier."

    1. I have a cousin and aunt and they said that the Catholic church was started by Jesus through the apostles, and I said that that was the catholic “universal,” but they disagreed and said that church was the Roman Catholic church. So why do Catholics believe that they are the only true church and how can I answer this claim from the scriptures?
    2. What does it mean to be a child of God? Are all people children of God including non-believers? Or Is it our relationship with Jesus, the son of the Living God, that determines this? Thank you and I listen every day!
    3. I’m in a small group that seems to be growing more divided recently. I am in the susceptible demographic for the Coronavirus because of my age. Our small group used to Zoom but now have moved to in-person meetings, but the hosts of our small group seem put out by having to have precautions in place for me and another member who is a diabetic. At our last study, a good portion of our time had segued into allegations surrounding the election. I have quoted from Romans and 1 Peter to respect our authorities but since there is a divide between federal and state authorities, which one should be followed? How can these divisions be worked out? We are quite entrenched in our views about the virus it seems. I feel compelled to leave the group seeing how divisive things are getting. I want to just go back to studying God’s word but I can’t ignore that it has its application to our current divide.
    4.  If evangelism is so important, why aren’t many churches preparing their community for evangelism?

    1. In Hebrews, where it says those have tasted the things of the Lord were not saved, what does that mean? I backslid and got caught up with alcoholism but the Lord brought me back and was curious if I lost faith and regained it, or if I always had it and the Lord just called me back?
    2. How do we obey God if we don’t know the whole Bible? Wouldn’t we have to memorize every command to truly be obedient?
    3. Matthew 7:21 says that “not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven. What does this mean? It sounds somewhat scary to me that not even saying “Lord, Lord” will allow us to enter the kingdom.
    4. Is the Bible appropriate for children? Are all passages of the Bible appropriate for children? Or are some inappropriate? If there are some inappropriate passages, how can parents know which passages are appropriate to read to their children and which passages are not?

    1. Can you please give me some scripture references on if someone can or cannot lose their salvation?
    2. In 1 Corinthians 8, it talks about the “strong” and the “weak” as groups within the church in Corinth. These groups had differences of opinion over various issues, but Paul specifically encouraged “the strong” group to put the needs of the “weak” above their own. My question is then: why is it so difficult for us to do this? Why can we in the church be so preoccupied with our group’s views on various issues that we forget to love those around us?
    3.  I have a friend who doesn’t believe in the “universal Church” because the word “ekklesia” means “the gathered ones” and therefore she states that the Church is only a local body. What we call the universal Church, she calls the family of God. Where can I turn to show her that the “family of God” can be called the universal Church?
    4. I am wondering what you think about there being similarities between 1 Kings 1, where Adonijah is replacing David as king, and today’s political climate. Is there a parallel?

    1. When can I be a witness for Jesus and evangelize, do I have to wait until the Spirit descends on me and anoints me?
    2. What does the Bible say about fasting? Is it just about giving up food for awhile to draw closer to God? Is it something we can do to unlock some form of holy power like the apostles did in the New Testament? I hear about it on Instagram a good bit but I just don’t fully understand it.
    3. Me and my friend were talking about if miraculous signs, wonders, and spiritual gifts have ceased. He said “there’s no way a person can read through the entire New Testament and come to that conclusion.” So, is there a way?
    4. I have become more conscious of trying not to shame and alienate others for their faults, especially in this contentious year, but I have gotten pushback by others saying that no matter how kind I am my belief that we are all inherently sinners means that I am teaching others to hate themselves, especially those who have experienced abuse or trauma who already struggle with self-hatred and feeling ashamed. How can I answer these responses and tell people that even though they are sinners that God loves them?

    1. What do you do when the truths of the gospel and the bible and everything we believe as Christians sometimes just do not feel real? What do you do when the experiences of your life seem more random than guided by a loving God?
    2. In another episode you mentioned that one must believe to be saved. While I believe that this is right, the Bible also says that we need to be born again. Can you elaborate on how salvation is God’s work in us while we are also required to believe?
    3. My atheist father asked me the question the other night, “if God exist, then who created God?” I didn’t know how to answer him. How would you answer this?
    4. I saw in the news that a famous pastor was recently fired for committing adultery. I then wondered if pastors should be allowed to come back and pastor a church again after committing adultery? I know that Christians sin and fail, sometimes in horrific ways, but should they lead in the same capacity that they once did?

Great Answers to Great Questions!

Core Christianity provides solid, Biblical answers to modern day questions across a broad spectrum of topics! May the Lord continue to bless and use you!

fpackwood ,

Horton where are you?

It breaks my heart that the voice of focus on the family has taken over for the man who has been used so mightily in my life- I bet my children’s spiritual future on the false teaching of the FOTF, I cannot for the life of me understand why this man has been given this position.

Encouraged

I am so encouraged when I listen to Core Christianity. It has been such a blessing in so many ways.

I just listened to the broadcast from 6/30 and I have always wondered about secular music. I was saved later in life so I remember cutting it out completely because of what others had told me.

I am learning more and more as I grow to look to the Word more for answers.

And it encourages me to see that Brother Adriel and those apart of Core Christianity do their part in studying to answer our questions. 😊💕
