How Practical is Sustainability? While several governments have launched their new green deals to implement the Paris Accord and the UN Agenda 2030, Corey Glickman and Jeff Kavanaugh have provided a timely, much-needed, and actionable guide on how to make it happen. It is called "Practical Sustainability: Circular commerce, smarter spaces, and happier humans" and is a well-researched and science-based handbook that shows in detail how to achieve environmental targets and carbon neutrality through circular commerce and exponential technologies across industries including smart cities. This book should be required reading for anyone involved with sustainability, intelligent buildings, and supply chains, because it is illustrating how technology combined with physical environments can elevate human potential while ushering in a greener, more prosperous future. And this is why, I have the great pleasure to present to you my recent interview with the authors Corey Glickman and Jeff Kavanaugh. Named among the top 100 influential designers of the decade, Corey Glickman is VP of Sustainability, Smart Spaces, and Strategic Design at Infosys. He is a member of MIT's Global Technology Advisory Board and faculty expert guest lecturer with Singularity University. Jeff Kavanaugh is adjunct Professor at the Jindal School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas and Vice President and head of the Infosys Knowledge Institute, the research and thought leadership arm of Infosys. In this interview, they take us through the most important topics of their latest book, Practical Sustainability, including the following: • How can we reduce 40%, of greenhouse gas emissions caused by the construction operation of buildings including circular supply chains • How to apply circular economy thinking within the built environment in smarter spaces including commercial ones? • What is the definition of sustainability and circular economy within the context of digitalization - and why Spiral Economy would by a better term than circular economy? • What is the role of mindshift? • Where and how can we implement Practical Sustainability and how to make it financially feasible too? • Decarbonization of energy through new kinds of energy transmission • Sustainable cities, population shifts, reconstruction or reestablishment of existing infrastructures, architecture, design & build, future proof, Artificial Intelligence, and other great opportunities Enjoy the show and share it widely!
