A Language I Love Is...

I’m fascinated by languages and language history, and this podcast is a thoroughly delightful way to geek out. In a shouty and often divisive world, host Danny, with his gentle voice, and his guests share their love and passion for a basic human quality we all share. Besides learning about languages I haven’t heard of, my take away is that our languages and their histories show we are more connected than separated.

This is a great podcast for the interested non-specialist in languages. Well presented and fun, the podcast introduces a diverse palate of languages, their historical development and current status. Haven’t missed an episode.

Danny Bate is an incredibly bright and articulate scholar with a rare ability to communicate and share his enthusiasm to intelligent and interested individuals outside his immediate academic community. (That’s potentially subversive!) His interviews on this podcast series are interesting, informative, challenging, and often fun. I’ve listened to several of the podcasts in recent days and look forward to listening to more. I’d particularly recommend the modules focusing on Medieval Latin and Romansh but I have no doubt that they’re all great. (Bonus points: Listen to Danny’s You Tubes with Jackson Crawford …. two interesting and talented guys for the price of one!)
