Do you want to care for the people in your ministry more effectively? This podcast will equip you to do exactly that.

The reality of Christian ministry is that it can be exhausting, overwhelming, and lonely. This is certainly true for pastors, but it is also true for all Christians in ministry! And every Christian has a ministry of some kind. From youth leaders to Bible study leaders to loving your next-door neighbor, we are all in ministry to the people around us.

And those people are hurting.

The emotional struggles, mental health needs, and relationship challenges of today’s world are big. Millions of people struggle with anxiety, depression, divorce, abuse, and stress. And when people are hurting, the Church is meant to help.

… But do you really feel equipped to do that?

The mission of this podcast is to EQUIP and ENCOURAGE you in your ministry leadership. Whether you are pastoring a mega church or the far more common smaller church, or maybe you’re working at a nonprofit and leading a book club on your lunch break - you want to be able to love and care for the people around you.

Every episode will EQUIP you with practical skills, ideas, tools, or resources to address the “counseling” related needs of the people in your ministry. Each episode will also seek to ENCOURAGE you in the important ministry work you are doing for the Lord’s glory.

Do’s And Don'ts For Helping People With Trauma And Emotional Baggage

“In this world, you will have trouble,” Jesus tells his followers. “But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

One of the long-term “troubles” that many people in your ministry struggle with is the aftermath of trauma, hurt, and emotional baggage. In fact, you may struggle with this yourself.

In our broken world, trauma and emotional pain is very common. And it’s also hard to ministry to people who are struggling with this! You may not know many details, or even know that someone has a hard background, but it is safe and practical to assume that MANY people in your ministry have hard, painful things in their past.

Here at The iHope Center, we have helped hundreds of people through trauma-related hurts. And God is so faithful, so gentle, so kind to bring healing through the gospel! One of the big ways He does that is through the church and through bringing Christians together to offer care and support.

Today on the show, we’ll share 5 Do’s and 5 Don’ts for helping people who are struggling with trauma and emotional baggage. You don’t need to be their professional counselor to make a difference in the healing journey. Dive in for some practical tips today.

Resources For Helping Someone Fight Addiction

Resources For Helping Someone Fight Addiction

Ministry work involves helping people through many difficult and painful life circumstances. And one of the hardest is helping people who are dealing with an addiction. There are a lot of ways that pastors and other Christian leaders can help people when they are fighting addiction, but one of the most basic ways is to offer practical, Christ-centered, appropriate resources.

But what are some of those resources?

Here at The iHope Center, that is one of the most common questions we hear from local pastors. So if you’ve ever found yourself feeling stuck in how to help someone who is fighting an addiction, you are not alone.

Today’s episode will not offer miracle solutions. We are not medical doctors, nor do we specialize in addictions counseling. But we will share some helpful, practical resources to get you started!

Whether someone is struggling with alcohol, drugs, gambling, pornography or other addictions - even if they are using these things in dangerous ways but perhaps not technically “addicted” - you can feel more confident in offering them help with some resources in your back pocket.

    Let’s dive in.
