Cover Meeting

All the things that bang around in my head as I work are discussed in this superb podcast. From inspiration to money, clients, working with ADs, collaboration, and staying mentally and physically sound in an industry that, while fun, can be very demanding. I’ve enjoyed the stellar lineup of talent and hearing their voices and way of thinking. Sure, we are all familiar with their work and “follow” them—but hearing things in their own words opens a further dimension into the work and the actual people behind the work.

This is a great listen for anyone interested in how book covers are made, the people making them, and the general inner workings of the cover design industry. Perhaps more importantly, Steve and guests also give plenty of airtime to how the industry fits into the larger cultural and political landscapes of the English-speaking world. It’s much more than shop talk, but if you want shop talk, this podcast gives it to you from some of publishing’s leading creatives.
