Creating sustainable crops Dookie Day 2019

Did you know there are five different soil types present on Dookie campus, and that understanding the properties of each is vital to crop growth and maintenance? Come to the sustainable crop production precinct, and see the tiny seeds that are potential sources of important crop genes, and don't forget to say hi to Motley the Soil Mascot!

Hear from researchers and industry on how we will sustain our food production through uncertainties by concentrating on crop production, soil health, crop protection and biosecurity, and new crop biotechnology. Learn to grow microgreens, taste zingy nutrient-packed microgreens and lentil salad while exploring plant-based diet options, and participate in fun activities that explore soil health and food biosecurity research.

GLASS HOUSE AND POLYTUNNEL TOURS: Discover the beneficial growing environment within the new glasshouses and polytunnel. Tours will explore the research behind these methods and discoveries.
MICROWAVE WEEDKILLER DEMONSTRATIONS: Discover a different way to kill already emerged and herbicide-resistant weeds and seeds in the soil with an innovative microwave treatment.
