Saving Abigail: The Story of a 3-Year-Old Taken Hostage by Hamas ft. Liz Hirsh Naftali
In this special episode of Cut to the Chase: Podcast, Gregg speaks with Liz Hirsh Naftali, a philanthropist, advocate for the hostages, and author of “Saving Abigail: The True Story of the Abduction and Rescue of a Three-Year-Old Hostage”. Liz was in Israel during the terrorist attacks on October 7th, 2023. Her then 3-year-old great-niece, Abigail Mor Edan, was among the hostages. Abigail’s mother and father were both killed in front of her and her siblings. She then spent 51 days held hostage by Hamas. In “Saving Abigail”, Liz describes the struggles Abigail went through during that dark time and the international effort Liz undertook to bring her home. Today, November 24th, 2024, we celebrate Abigail’s 5th birthday. Today, we share her story to honor her resilience and the resilience of the 240+ people who have been taken hostage by Hamas. This story is meant to spread awareness about the truth of October 7th and the pressure that’s needed on government officials around the world to bring the remaining 101 hostages home. “I keep working on this struggle of how do we get these hostages home,” Liz says, “and that is a heavy burden because it just hasn’t happened and today, we’re after 400 days that these people have been held hostage. So, when you say how am I, I’m fine, but I know that there are people that are not fine and their families are not okay.” What to expect in this episode: Liz’s background in politics, philanthropy, leadership, and humanitarian work Abigail’s story & How she and her siblings are doing now A summary of “Saving Abigail” Liz’s role in bringing Abigail and other hostages home What happened in Israel on October 7th, 2023 What happened leading up to the October 7th attacks Shocking facts/statistics about the people taken hostage by Hamas Qatar’s role in Hamas’ terrorism and hostage negotiation/release Liz and Abigail’s experience meeting Benjamin Netanyahu and Joe Biden Major lessons Liz has learned about politics, leadership, and humanity Key Actionable Takeaways: 101 people are still in hostage today, 7 of which are American and many who are not Israeli or Jewish.
