Today, we are gathering to unite and prepare for the launch of our fall life groups. Dr. James O Davis challenged us that we should prioritize our lives and churches around those things we can do to reach our highest potential in fulfilling Jesus’ highest objective: “Go and make disciples in a way that finishes the task.” (It is easy to have plans and priorities but lose focus). We are convinced that raising up and multiplying healthy small groups is one of those highest priorities we can do for Jesus so He can finish His mission.

Last month’s podcast was about Unleashing the World Changing Power of Spiritual Mentoring: The Skills of a Powerful Mentee. I talked mostly from a challenge on how to be mentored and receive the most from others who coach or mentor us. Today, I want to apply it to being a mentor/coach who disciples others. I have two amazing pastors with me who have done this well and I want to bring them into the discussion to help make it practical and applicable.

Unleashing The World Changing Power of Mentoring (PT.1)

I want to share what I believe is a top priority for us in this season. I have never felt a greater burden to challenge church members to grow from being a member to being a mentor of others. This is the imperative command of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). I believe Jesus was saying that we must not finish our race without depositing in others the life Jesus has taught and given us, so the seeds in us can keep bearing fruit for generations to come.

Growing into an Emotionally Healthy Adult

The ultimate sign that we are growing into a spiritually, emotionally, healthy person is demonstrated in how we love people. The highest purpose and goal of the Christian life is to love well.

"The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith." (I Timothy 1:5 NLT)
