Day 316 | Judgment against Oholah and Oholibah | Hebrews 11: What is Faith

Day 316 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. Ezekiel 22:23-23 tells about how God was unhappy with the people of Jerusalem and Samaria because they weren't living right. He compared them to two sisters who didn't follow God's ways. This part of the Bible is a bit like a story showing how important it is to stay true to what God teaches and not forget about Him. Hebrews 11:1-16 talks about faith. It says faith is like believing in things we can't see. The passage tells stories of people from the Bible, like Noah and Abraham, who trusted God even when things were tough or didn't make sense. It teaches us that having faith means trusting God and his promises, even when we don't understand everything. Day 315 | Babylon is the sword against Jerusalem | Hebrews 10: Stay close to Christ

Day 315 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. In Ezekiel 20:45 to 22:22, God tells Ezekiel to give a warning message. He uses images like a forest on fire to describe how He will punish bad behavior and injustice in Israel. Then, Ezekiel talks about Jerusalem as a city where people don't follow God's rules, acting unfairly and hurting others. God says He will clean up the city by removing the bad like a refiner removes impurities from metal. This part of the Bible teaches about God's fairness and how He wants people to live rightly and justly. In Hebrews 10:19-39, the message is about having faith and staying strong. It starts by reminding us that because of Jesus, we can be close to God. We're encouraged to hold on to our faith, even when it's tough, and to support each other in following God. The writer warns against turning away from God after knowing the truth, emphasizing that faith will be rewarded. It ends by saying that we need to be patient and keep believing because God keeps His promises. This passage teaches the importance of faith, patience, and encouraging each other in our journey with God. Day 314 | A sad song about Israel | Hebrews 10: Jesus is the sacrifice

Day 314 of the One Year Audio Bible Experience Podcast. Ezekiel 19 is a sad poem about Israel's leaders (described as lions) and the nation (like a vine), showing how they lost their power and were taken away to a foreign land. Then, Ezekiel 20:1-44 recounts Israel's history, highlighting how the people repeatedly disobeyed God. Despite this, God was patient and kept His promise to not destroy them, showing His desire to be recognized as the one true God. This part teaches about God's patience and commitment to His people, despite their mistakes. Hebrews 10:1-18 explains that the laws and sacrifices in the Old Testament were like a preview of the good things God had planned, but they were not perfect. The passage tells us that Jesus' sacrifice was different and perfect because it was done once and works forever. This means that through Jesus, people can have a close relationship with God, and their sins are forgiven completely. Day 313 | The Eagle and Vine | Sins of the Father | Hebrews 9: Christ is the final sacrifice

Day 313 of the One Year Audio Bible Experience Podcast. In Ezekiel 17, the prophet tells a parable about two eagles and a vine, symbolizing Jerusalem's alliances with Babylon and Egypt, and God's judgment for their faithlessness. Ezekiel 18 emphasizes individual responsibility before God, explaining that each person will be judged by their own actions, not the sins of their parents or children, and that repentance can lead to life. In Hebrews 9:16-28, the passage explains that just as a will is only put into effect when someone has died, so too Christ's death is what enacts the new covenant with its promises. It goes on to say that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. It contrasts the repeated sacrifices of the old covenant, which couldn't provide perfect cleansing, with Christ's sacrifice, which was once for all and will be effective until He returns to bring salvation to those waiting for Him. Day 312 | Jerusalem is like a prostitute, whom God loves | Hebrews 9: The New Agreement

Day 312 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. Ezekiel 16 uses a metaphor to describe Jerusalem as an unfaithful woman. Despite God's care from her infancy and making her His bride, Jerusalem turns to idolatry, acting worse than a prostitute—paying others instead of being paid, and making alliances with foreign nations (representing false gods). God declares that He will punish her but will eventually establish a new covenant and restore her. In Hebrews 9:1-15, the writer compares the earthly tabernacle with its holy places and the high priest's yearly sacrifice with the heavenly tabernacle, where Christ entered once and for all. Christ, serving as the high priest of good things to come, offered His own blood, not that of animals, obtaining eternal redemption for us. This sacrifice cleanses our consciences from dead works to serve the living God, and it is the basis for the new covenant, allowing us to receive the promised eternal inheritance. Day 311 | Jerusalem, the vine, will be burned | Hebrews 8: Jesus Our High Priest

Day 311 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. In Ezekiel 13-15, the prophet Ezekiel condemns the false prophets of Israel for misleading the people with lies and visions of their own making. God declares that he will not answer those who consult these prophets and idols, and He emphasizes the individual responsibility for sin, stating that even if a land were righteous, each person would be judged separately for their own actions. In Hebrews 8, the writer discusses Jesus as our high priest, who serves in the true heavenly tabernacle set up by the Lord. This chapter also highlights a new covenant God makes with His people, promising to write His laws in their hearts and minds, which is contrasted with the old covenant that was not faultless. Day 310 | Prophecies against the leaders | Hebrews 7: Christ is a priest like Melchizedek

Day 310 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. In Hebrews 6:13-7:10, the author speaks about God's promise to Abraham, emphasizing how God swore by Himself to bless Abraham, ensuring the unchangeability of His purpose with an oath. This offers hope and encouragement to the followers, likened to an anchor for the soul. The passage then transitions to Melchizedek, a mysterious priest-king from Genesis, who met Abraham. Unlike other priests, Melchizedek's priesthood is unique and eternal, not based on hereditary ties. Abraham gave him a tenth of everything, which illustrates the greatness of Melchizedek's priesthood, even greater than that of the descendants of Levi, who also receive tithes from the people according to the law. This comparison sets the stage for the discussion on the priesthood of Jesus, which is in the order of Melchizedek—superior and eternal. Hebrews 7:11-28 argues that Jesus' priesthood, according to Melchizedek's order, is superior to the Levitical priesthood, offering a perfect, lasting sacrifice once for all, unlike the continual, insufficient sacrifices of the Levites. Jesus, perfect and eternal, intercedes for humanity, ensuring a better covenant with God. Day 309 | The Lord shows Ezekiel disgusting things | Hebrews 6: Two things God cannot change

Day 309 of the Holy Bible One Year CHALLENGE. In Ezekiel 7-9, the prophet Ezekiel relays a series of visions and prophecies about the severe judgment coming to Israel because of its extensive corruption and idolatry. God tells Ezekiel that the end is near for His people in their land because of their abominable deeds. Ezekiel sees a vision of punishment with a sign of impending doom marked on Jerusalem. Then he witnesses six men with deadly weapons and a seventh man with a writing kit sent to the city. The man with the writing kit marks the foreheads of those who grieve over the detestable things done in the city, sparing them from the slaughter, while the others are not so lucky. Ezekiel's vision serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of turning away from God's ways.
