Dead Sea Scrolls
Of all the parchments encompassing the ancient library known as the Dead Sea Scrolls, the text known as the Damascus Rule stands out as the quintessential rule book of the mysterious sect who composed them. What do we know about this secretive religious order, living in strict seclusion in the middle of the Judean desert? Who was the revered leader they looked to, how was the sect organized, and what were the conflicts they endured? This enthralling episode in the Dead Sea Scrolls series contains the riveting answers.
Dead Sea Scrolls with Kenneth Hanson review
22/03/2023
The content of this podcast is very good, and I appreciate the recitation of the scrolls in their original Hebrew (or is it Aramaic?). There are a few things that really distract from the content, though. First, the dramatic background music throughout makes it hard to hear or focus on the narration. Second, the Poirot detective voice is confusing and unnecessary. Finally, when the scrolls are read in their original language, a translation of what’s been said needs to be clearly provided. Without it, the listener is lost (unless they speak Hebrew/Aramaic). I like the podcast and would like to continue listening but these distractions take away from an otherwise very good podcast.
