First Levi's Jeans (1873)

PANTS! They were essential to Western Expansion in the 1800s... but damn if they didn't suffer frequent "blow outs" to the pockets and crotch! That's embarrassing! Luckily, a tailor named Jacob Davis took up the challenge to reinforce denim and found a partner in a certain famed jean magnate, way before he was even a jeans gent! Fast forward to today and we're all pretty much always wearing jeans because we love the look and that sweet sweet indigo weave. This episode, we discuss the FIRST LEVI'S JEANS! We also get buggy in the MouthGarf Report and silly in I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!

First New York City Subway (1869)

In 1869, a crew secretly dug a tunnel under Broadway in Manhattan. That tunnel became a huge attraction that proved scientific potential, supporting Civil War orphans, and eventually fell into disrepair. On this episode, we discuss the First New York City Subway and its creator, Alfred Ely Beach, who was one of those few-and-far-between Good Dudes of History. We also find some great birds and a truly magnificent Garf in the MouthGarf Report. And you better believe we play I See What You Did There.

With special guest, Eric Weintraub, author of the books South of Sepharad, and Dreams of an An American Exile, we Buddies explore the low-budget, tautly scripted, bloody violent movie! This podcast is a ton of fun! The hosts have a great rapport, playing off each other with wit, candor, and an impressive amount of knowledge. They take a lighthearted approach to a variety of unique and interesting topics, yet every episode is thoughtful and filled with great research. If you want to learn some fascinating facts and laugh along the way, you should definitely check out Debut Buddies!

I love the way the trio plays off each other in this, mostly irreverent and totally pointless. Comedy show that accidentally might teach you a little bit of meaningless history. A nice brain break from the chaos of planet earth.

Can’t believe they gave these clowns a podcast, and yet….. I am compelled. They’re dumb, but in a good way, like relatable. We love to see it!
