On this 25th day of December, join your Bible reading coach, Hunter, on the Daily Radio Bible podcast for a special Christmas episode. Today marks the 360th day of our journey through the scriptures, and together, we delve into the transformative love and life of Jesus, the true light of the world. In this episode, Hunter reads from 1st John, chapters 1 through 5, reminding us of the humble arrival of Jesus and His profound impact on our lives. Alongside scripture, we engage in heartfelt prayers for peace, understanding, and divine guidance. So, take a pause from the festivities, and let the message of God's love fill your heart and home on this blessed day. Join us on this enlightening journey, and remember, you are loved. Let's get started! TODAY'S DEVOTION: John reminds us today that the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining. The true light is Jesus Christ. His coming was about as unassuming as as one could imagine, a tiny baby, born to a couple of teenagers. The mother, a virgin, in a tiny town, born in a manger. Who could have imagined that God would come to us in such a lowly way? But Jesus' humble entrance brought light back into the dark world. Though, at first, only some family and friends, a few shepherds, some wise men took note of it. When we read this, we can't help but draw a line from the birth of Jesus, the light of the world, to Genesis, chapter 1, when God's light broke over the darkness, when God created the first dawn. Then God said, let there be light, and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. For the God who said, let there be light in the darkness, has made this light shine in our hearts so that we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. As we look to the birth of Jesus, consider the ways that Jesus has brought light into your dark world. Put that light on a stand and offer that light to others. And imagine a day coming when the glory of God will be all and in all. And that's a prayer that I have for my own soul. And that's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Let's continue now in a time of prayer. Feel free to read along with these prayers in the show notes of today's podcast, and meditate on these words that are being spoken over you, your family, and our world. And now, let us pray. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Good day, everyone, and welcome to the Daily Radio Bible podcast! Today is December 24th, Christmas Eve, and it's also day 358 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm Heather, your host on Sundays. On this special episode, we'll reflect on the profound love of Jesus Christ through readings from John chapters 19 through 21. Though it may seem unusual to focus on Jesus's death and resurrection on Christmas Eve, this juxtaposition highlights the remarkable story of salvation—from the humble birth in a manger to the ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Join us as we warm our hearts around the fire of God's love, immerse ourselves in the Word, and rekindle our spirits with the peace and purpose that Jesus offers. Let’s dive right in! TODAY'S DEVOTION: He's the God of many other things. John ends his gospel with these words. Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written. Those other things aren't relegated to the past. Those other things continue on even today. He continues to transform men and women, boys and girls. He's showing up behind locked doors and locked hearts. As Reverend Doctor Munther spoke so eloquently in his message from Bethlehem yesterday, Christ is under the rubble in Gaza, suffering with humanity. He is with the grieving families of those in Gaza and also with those in Israel who are grieving loss. Christ continues to be with us in all our heartache. He is still whispering, peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. Follow me. He's calling all of us to receive God's peace, a peace that was won when he conquered death. He called Peter and he calls us all to move beyond our failure and into a new life. His purpose for us is to go and feed his sheep, laying down our life for the sheep the way Christ has laid down his life for us. He comes to speak life and peace and gives us a new way to live. Even, and maybe especially, on this Christmas Eve, may we move beyond ourselves and into his path of compassion, love, and purpose. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear friends, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 23rd, and we're on day 358 of our journey through the scriptures. I’m Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to guide you as we read through the entire Bible, covering the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice. But more than just reading, our deep desire is to experience the transformative love and presence of God, fully revealed in Jesus Christ. In today's episode, we'll dive into the Gospel of John, chapters 15 through 18. We'll explore Jesus’ profound teachings about the vine and the branches, his relationship with the Father, and his prayers for his disciples. We’ll witness the poignant moments leading up to his arrest and Peter’s denial, and conclude with Jesus' trial before Pilate. Through these scriptures and our time in prayer, we seek not just understanding, but the peace and strength to walk with Him through all of life’s trials. Join us as we immerse ourselves in God’s Word. Let's embark on this sacred journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Here in John 16, we see Jesus trying to describe his relationship with the father. He's preparing his disciples for what's about to happen. He's trying to describe all of this to them, and they're struggling to understand. And finally, it seems like they just decide to fake it and say, well, yes, Lord. We finally understand. Finally, you're speaking plainly and not figuratively. We get it. I can't help but think that Jesus knew that they did not understand. In fact, in verse 31 and 32, he asked them somewhat incredulously, do you really believe that the time is coming, indeed it's here now, when you'll be scattered each one going his own way leaving me alone? I mean, if they really understood, would they do that? Yet Jesus says I'm not alone because the father is with me. It seems that Jesus is calling them out a bit ever so gently. I think he's saying no no no. You really don't believe. If you truly believed, you wouldn't desert me, and that's exactly what's about to happen. You're going to leave, but I won't be alone. This is all very necessary, and then he tells them what a heart looks like that truly believes in him. Verse 33 I've told you all this so that you may have peace in me here on earth. You'll have many trials and sorrows, but take heart because I have overcome the world. We are going to have troubles in this world. If anything, the last 2 years has given us is clarity on this point. That is a reality. We will have troubles in this world. Sometimes there is a pandemic. But take heart, Jesus says. Have courage, he says. I've overcome the world. I think Jesus is saying that if we truly believe, we won't run and hide. Instead, we'll recognize that he's with us, and he has the power to overcome and see us through all the troubles that we experience in this life. Life will not be void of troubles, but he will be there. So let me ask you, and I'll ask myself, do we really believe, or are we running and hiding? Have we learned to receive the word that says, take heart. I have overcome the world. You don't need to flee if you believe that I'm with you. So walk with me in and through all of your troubles. I'm with you. Have faith in that. Walk with him through that. Walking with him is what we are all called to do, and by faith, that is what we will do. That's the prayer that I have for my own heart, for my own soul. And that's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. Today is December 22nd, 2024, day 357 of our incredible journey through the Bible. I'm Hunter, your host and Bible reading coach, here to guide your hearts and minds toward Jesus. While Heather is away visiting family in Colorado, we gather here to immerse ourselves in the sacred scriptures. In this episode, we journey through John chapters 12 through 14, witnessing powerful moments like the anointing of Jesus by Mary, Judas's eventual betrayal, and Jesus's profound teachings on love, service, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. As we read, we'll explore the gift that Jesus offers—peace of mind and heart—timely words as we prepare our hearts for the Christmas season. So, settle in, open your hearts, and let’s dive deep into the living Word of God together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: I just went and did a little Christmas shopping right before doing this podcast. I was looking for gifts as you do when you go Christmas shopping. In today's reading, we hear that Jesus has offered us a gift. Verse 27 says, I am leaving you with a gift. Curious to know what it is? I mean, it is almost Christmas. It's peace of mind and heart. That's the gift. It's unique to him, he says. No one in this world can give you that. Nothing in this world can give you that. Peace of mind and heart. Is your mind troubled? Is your heart troubled? Jesus is offering you a gift today, a living word of God. A man who walked about the land of Galilee, who performed miracles, who raised the dead, who offered himself on behalf of all of humanity, the creator of all things. Creator of that ocean that I walked by today, looked out over. He offers me peace of mind and heart. All those anxieties that I have about my future, about my family, about finances, about health, about my mom, all those things that make my mind very unpeaceful. Jesus wants to give me peace. There in the midst of all that, he says, I have a gift for you, Hunter. Any place in my heart that is not settled or that is wounded, that is confused or injured, Jesus himself today says, I can bring peace there. I can quiet your heart even. So, if you're like me today, let us together say thank you. Let us together find some time to to sit with this generous gift. And allow the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the counselor, the one who is with us now. Help us to open that gift, and to begin to live in the light of it, in the joy of it, in the love of it, receiving all that God has for each and every one of us. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the pair that I have for you. Peace, of mind, and heart. May it be so. Today is December 21st, and we are on day 356 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to accompany you through the pages of the Bible. As we approach the end of the year, we aim not just for understanding but for the transformation that comes through the God revealed fully in the face of Jesus. Today's readings take us through John chapters 9 to 11, where we encounter powerful stories—Jesus healing a man born blind, likening himself to the Good Shepherd, and raising Lazarus from the dead. We explore the themes of divine healing, faith, and the barriers we must overcome to walk in the resurrection life that Jesus offers us. As always, we'll close with prayers for strength, peace, and a reminder of God's unending love. So, join me as we delve into the richness of God's word together. Let's get started. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Roll the stone aside, Jesus told them. That stone was the barrier between the grave and life, between the living and the dead. And that stone is an important symbol in this story. For we all have a stone that god is wanting to move away in our lives. What's yours? What's standing between you and life? Lazarus came to life when Jesus spoke his name inside that grave, but the stone still had to be moved away. There was still a barrier, still something that stood in between him and the life that waited and the love of those who stood on the other side. Trapped alive in a tomb is no life at all, and yet this is what many Christians experience in their lives. That stone must be rolled away. And at Jesus' command, indeed it was. And now a man once dead is alive. Now there's nothing in the way. Now he is truly alive. And there is no life like resurrection life. I'm sure for Lazarus, life after the grave was sweet indeed. What stone needs to be removed in your life? What's still standing in the way, inhibiting you from experiencing all that God has for you? Don't ignore. Don't shut your ears to his command To come forth. He's done everything that's necessary for you to walk forward in life. The stone has been rolled away. He has raised you from the grave. Now is your time to begin to learn to walk in resurrection life. So come forth. Come forth today. Take that step. Move forward in faith, trusting that God is indeed The God of the resurrection. The God who raises us from the dead. He has removed all that needs to be moved. And he stands on the other side. Ready to embrace you, to walk with you into your new life. Hallelujah. I'm your host, Hunter, and today is December 20th, 2024, day 355 of our year-long journey through the scriptures. We’re nearing the end of the year but our mission remains just as powerful: to experience the transformative love of God through His Word. In today's episode, we delve into the Gospel of John, chapters 7 and 8. We witness Jesus as He moves amidst skepticism and hostility, secretly attending the Festival of Shelters, and delivering profound teachings about His divine origin and purpose. From confronting His critics to offering living water to the spiritually thirsty, Jesus' messages and actions stir both faith and controversy among those around Him. Join us as we explore these rich passages and reflect on the living water Jesus offers, culminating in His poignant declaration, "I am the light of the world." As always, we pray to deepen our understanding and experience the fullness of God's presence in our lives. Stay tuned for a compelling reading and heartfelt prayers that follow. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Amen. It's the climax of the festival of shelters, and Jesus commandeers the whole thing. The priest would descend the steps in this ceremony from the temple down to the pool of Siloam. There he would retrieve water and walk it all the way back up the steps and pour it out on the altar. And there he would recite from Isaiah chapter 12, which reads, With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation. This was a messianic promise that was reenacted every year. It was a promise that there would come a day when the Messiah would come and offer salvation to his people, and all the faithful would drink deeply from that fountain of life. The priest would descend those steps for 7 days, bringing up that water every day. And on the 7th day, the priest would do that for the final time. It was the climax of the celebration. People were standing all around with palm fronds and lit lanterns. It was a glorious moment that Jesus upstages. He steps forward at that particular moment, and he begins to shout out to the crowds, and the people were amazed at his words. He said this in verse 38, anyone who believes in me may come and drink, for the scriptures declare that rivers of living waters will flow from his heart. Amazing. The salvation the world is dying for has come. Those salvific waters are proceeding not from some religious temple, in some religious altar. It emerges from the very heart of God. The deadly drought caused by our rebellion has come to an end. The wait for life giving water is over. The source of our life is now standing before us. It is a person. It's Jesus who comes with his father in the anointing of the spirit. The 3 in 1 are present right here, right now, and he's telling us to drink deep and never stop drinking. That water is going to flow for all. He is the salvation the world has been waiting for and he is here. Jesus took center stage at that moment because he didn't want any of us to miss this sign. He's the one we're looking for. He's the one Isaiah spoke about. So let's drink deep of that fountain today and every day. The triune God, the creator of all things, is beckoning you to come to bring your thirsty soul to him and receive all that you want. That's the prayer that I have for my own souls that I will see it, my friends, that I will receive it, and that I will drink deep.

I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, guiding you through our transformative journey through the scriptures. Today, we're immersing ourselves in the profound teachings of John chapters 5 and 6, where we witness Jesus performing miracles, such as healing the sick man by the pool of Bethesda and feeding the 5,000 with just five barley loaves and two fish. We'll delve into His powerful messages about being the Bread of Life and explore the deep connection between Jesus and the Father. As we reflect on these powerful passages, let's open our hearts to the transformative power of God's love and presence. Join me in this spiritual quest as we seek to experience His truth together. And of course, we'll conclude with a time of heartfelt prayer, as we lift our voices to God. So grab your Bible, settle in, and let's embark on this divine journey together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The only one I know that has what I'm looking for, words of life, bread from heaven, food in the wilderness, is Jesus. He's the only one I know that has what I'm looking for. I don't come to him because I'm especially pious or I was born in the right family. No. I seem to have come to him because I have been drawn to him, as have you. And in this season of Advent, we are reminded that the word, the bread that came down from heaven, is Jesus. And Jesus has offered himself in the flesh for the whole world so that we might have union with him. That we might share in his life. That we might be transformed by his love, that we might partake in his victory over the grave. The father is drawing us to this man, Jesus, because he has what we're looking for. And the prayer of my own heart is that I will see it and that I will partake and follow him. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on 'The Daily Radio Bible' for a daily 20-minute spiritual journey.. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 18th, and it's day 353 of our journey through the Scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your Bible reading coach and brother. As we explore the Gospel of John, chapters 2 through 4, we will witness Jesus' miraculous transformation of water to wine at Cana, His passionate cleansing of the temple, and His deep conversations with Nicodemus and the Samaritan woman at the well. Our focus today is on recognizing that all signs point to Him—Jesus, our source of life, joy, and transformation. We'll conclude with heartfelt prayers and reflections, anchoring ourselves in the love of God. Join me, let's dive in and experience the Word together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: All the signs are pointing to him. There's the sign at the wedding feast. He turns water into wine. And here we see the sign of the healed boy simply at the word of Jesus. A boy is healed. The fever is gone. The prayer is answered. Christ is what all the signs are pointing to. And even at this season when we celebrate the advent of Jesus, may these days before the Christmas week remind us that all the signs are pointing to him. He is our wedding feast. He's the one who gives wine for our water. He's the one that answers our deepest heart's cry. All of it points to him. There are many more signs in this gospel. May our hearts be open to all of them. May we have eyes to see through this Advent season who He is, that He is Emmanuel. He's come to identify with all of humanity by becoming a human. That he is going to offer himself on behalf of all the world to free us, to rescue us, and liberate us, that we might experience the life that he shares with the father and the anointing of the spirit, that he has embraced us and included us into that very life and joy. The incarnation shows us the depth of his love and it also shows us the depths of your own value, how God values you, that you are deeply loved. And the prayer of my own heart today is that I will see that well, that I'll see the signs. They're all pointing to him, to what he's done and who we are in him. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, and my daughters, and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity.
