Democracy in Retreat Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke

    • News

Democracy faces its most serious crisis in decades. Its basic tenets are under attack around the world - including guarantees of free and fair elections, the rights of minorities, freedom of the press, freedom of speech and the rule of law.

According to the American think tank and democracy monitor Freedom House, 71 countries last year suffered net declines in political rights and civil liberties, with only 35 registering positive progress. This marked the 12th consecutive year of decline in global freedom.
Today's guests are civil society activists from Jordan and Zambia, both partly free countries.
They are Shrouq Mohammad Saleh Alnaimat, from the Liwan Youth Space in Amman, Jordan, and Thompson Kamuhuza Luzendi, grassroots manager at Youth4Parliment in Zambia.
