Delusions of Parasitosis with Dr. Nicholas Brownstone

Join us in this fascinating interview of Dr. Nicholas Brownstone as we discuss his journey from plastic surgery residency to dermatology research fellowships to dermatology residency as well as dive into talking about delusions of parasitosis! Dr. Brownstone is currently a dermatology resident at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Cornell University with a BA in psychology then completed medical school at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Before switching to a career in dermatology, Dr. Brownstone began his medical career as a plastic and reconstructive surgery resident in New York, completing over 3 years of surgical training. He then completed two dermatology research fellowships— one at UCSF in psoriasis, phototherapy, and clinical research—and another at Mount Sinai in melanoma and skin cancer, prior to matching into dermatology residency. Dr. Brownstone is the host of Cutaneous Miscellaneous podcast and host of Under Your Skin and Dermbusters. He has authored over 100 peer reviewed articles and multiple book chapters as well as serving as lead editor for multiple books on dermatology topics.

Interview with Dermatology Resident Dr. Maleka Najmi

Join us for an engaging discussion with Dr. Najmi about her background and journey, her research in melanoma, and important topics including colorism and skin of color! Dr. Maleka Najmi graduated from Paul L. Foster School of Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, where she was inducted into and served as president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She was also elected into Gold Humanism Honor Society by her colleagues. During medical school, she led several organizations that aimed to educate the El Paso community about skin cancer and its prevention. Some of her remarkable projects were the establishment of virtual classes in free clinics after emergence of Covid-19, starting early skin cancer prevention education in public schools, and launching the first annual 5K Melanoma walk in El Paso. Dr. Najmi is now a PGY-2 at Baylor Scott & White dermatology residency in Temple, TX.
