    Episode 408 / Youngmin Park

    Episode 408 / Youngmin Park

Youngmin Park is a painter from Seoul, currently working and living in New York. Her works explore the unstoppable and competitive struggle within the vertical system through different forms of life. Elements such as power, movement, and consumption are shown through the tense relationships between the figures. Dislocated from their original functions, everyday beings build new meanings in the obscurely flattened world.⁣

⁣Youngmin (b.1997) received her BFA from Korea National University of Arts and is about to receive her MFA at Columbia University.

Melisgal

This is without a doubt my favorite contemporary art podcast. I feel like I’m in the same room as Brian & the artists he interviews. Conversations wander in many directions but always include educational influences, stories of growing up & dealing with issues that helped & hindered artistic careers & music. Brian is the ultimate interview. He knows when to just listen & how to draw out ideas from introverted guests. His liberal arts background as well as working artist life style really shines in this podcast.

Mini biographies of bright, interesting artists

I love learning about how different artists made it work. Brian Alfred gets smart, talented artists on this pod and asks good questions. Fun, informative, and makes creative people feel at home. Perfect for studio listening!! Check it out!

Amazing

I love this podcast! The inclusion of music alleviates the focus on visual art which can get oppressive. Art is more. All of the stories and personal histories are wonderful to hear and are inspiring. Occasionally the host’s derision towards Christianity gets a bit bitter but he’s otherwise kind, generous, and a funny, delightful interlocutor👏.
