Dirt Cheap
Paperback reads. We love them cheap. We love them dirty. We love to ask: why are white men the only ones with inner lives or three-dimensional personalities? Hosts Amanda Meadows and Geoffrey Golden dig deep into the dollar bins of used bookstores and your grandmother’s storage unit, looking for pulp and sass. Dirt Cheap brings those long-lost stories to life, with a heavy dose of humor and a dash of schadenfreude. This season, we're reading Murder in the Glass Room, a Los Angeles noir novel starring Phil Norris, a misanthropic bookie-turned-detective who's bad at his job and obsessed with furniture. It’s the poolside podcast you’ve been waiting for.

Horrible b rated noir book check. Great snappy remarks and commentary check. Really hope they get another book and continue the podcast.
Funny and charming

On-point commentary on this hilariously bad book. The married hosts are very charming and have great conversational chemistry. I also enjoyed the little historical asides prompted by various obscure references.

My wife turned me on to this podcast - I’ve listened to about half of the episodes already this week. I love the commentary during the book - it’s super absorbing. As a teacher this is a great model for engaging with literature - even though this text is the pulpiest of pulp. I hope it keeps going - I know I’ll keep listening.
Everything I want!

I’m writing this review months after the end of season 1, because I realize that it is the most power I have to ensure a second season! This podcast is such a comfy blanket and it always makes me laugh out loud. I have never considered caring about historical pulp fiction and now it’s a fascination of mine. More Dirt Cheap please!!!!
