Ditty In A Dash

Artist, musician and songwriter Frances' podcast series, Ditty In A Dash, is here! We will see her challenge some of her most creative friends to write a song from scratch in just 15 minutes. Each episode will see Frances invite a special guest into her home studio, once a fortnight, for a chat about their musical journeys, before setting the timer and getting down to business.     S2 Ep5: Grace Davies

    Grace knew what she wanted from a young age and has always kept her integrity throughout her ever blossoming career. She turned down multiple offers to be part of The X Factor until she was promised she could audition with her own songs. That decision has set her up as the artist she wants to be and should teach us all that what we say no to is as, if not more, important than what we say yes to. I’m sure you will all love Grace as much as I do. Enjoy!

    S2 Ep4: Tom Mann

    Having Tom Mann join me for an episode is such a pleasure. He is so talented and just a joy to talk to and write with. Recently he has written Becky Hill’s single ‘Last Time’ as well as the latest Regard feat. Tate McRae and Troye Sivan single ‘You’. It was amazing to be able to grab him for an hour as he’s a man in high demand!

    S2 Ep3: Lauren Aquilina

    Lauren started her career as an artist when she was just a teenager. She captured the hearts of listeners globally with her heartfelt, poetic and ethereal songs. Hitting a bump in the road with her record label and ultimately her happiness, she made the brave decision to step back from being an artist. Within a blink of an eye though she re-emerged as the Lauren we all love, releasing amazing music independently as an artist and penning songs for other artists including no less than THREE on the brand new Demi Lovato album, “Dancing With The Devil...The Art Of Starting Over”. We had the best time chatting and writing our ‘ditty’, I’m sure you’ll all love her as much as I do!

    S2 Ep2: Violet Skies

    Violet Skies is a fantastic songwriter and artist. Her journey into the industry had many twists and turns but on all accounts she’s ended up right where she needs to be, making beautiful music both for herself and others.. AND running an incredible organisation called sheWrites, which organises writing camps for all female songwriters, producers and engineers. I’m sure you’ll love her as much as I do!

    Welcome to series 2! What an amazing way to start with the fabulous Nina Nesbitt. She’ll make you laugh, her voice will melt you and her journey will inspire you. Nina is working on her highly anticipated next album and I’m certain it’s going to be a treat for us all. You can check out Nina’s previous albums and other amazing singles and collaborations in all of the normal places. Personal favourites of mine are ‘Things I Say When You Sleep’ and ‘Cry Dancing’ with NOTD. I’m sure you’ll all love Nina as much as I do!

    The legendary Andrew Jackson joined me for this episode and what a joy it was! Andrew has written for Dua Lipa, Rag ’n’ Bone Man, James Arthur, Kygo and Hailee Steinfeld to name but a few. We have been writing together fairly regularly for over a year now and he is definitely one of my favourite collaborators. I’m sure you’ll love him as much as I do!

    S1 Ep3: Becky Hill

    I was so lucky to have Becky Hill join me for episode 3. She is a powerhouse vocalist and an incredible songwriter! Year after year her career gets more exciting. Her releases shoot up the charts and you’d struggle to do a journey in the car without hearing her voice on the radio. We hit it off straight away when we first met a year or so ago and I’ve adored working with her in the studio. I’ve no doubt you’ll love her as much as I do!

    It’s episode 1! To kick things off with a bang, I convinced superstar songwriter James Newman to come and hang with me for a little while and play... Ditty In A Dash! We chatted about the hits he’s had and the never heard before back catalogue... but best of all of course, we picked a genre from the ‘hit hat’, flexed our musical muscles, set the timer and attempted to write a ditty, in a dash!!
