The Department of Metal Antiquities

As a musical genre, heavy metal (and all it's sub-genres) has only existed for 50 years, but in that time there have been a great many happenings that we have collectively forgotten. In this podcast Nik Cameron and Duncan Evans will be going through albums, concerts, etc in a vain glorious attempt to remember it all. We contextualize the subject and then we take it track by track. In the end, we'll tell you if you should spin it or bin it.

    DMA 182: "Under Cover" by Ozzy Osbourne

    It was 2005 and everybody was doing it, so Ozzy did it too, but he did it with serious backup. Ozzy enlists the allstar band of Mike Bordin of Faith No More on the drums. Chris Wyse of The Cult and later Ace Frehley on bass. What does he do about a six string gunslinger? He gets Jerry MF Cantrell of Alice In Chains. Now that he has this all star band to kill all all star bands does he set about writing an album the define his career and crush all comers? No. He does a covers record.
