The PoliticsGirl Podcast

American Democracy is not promised to us and, with all the forces working against it, saving it will take a level of work most people aren’t ready for. The Politics Girl Podcast is here to give people a reason to care and a reason to fight. Our goal is to inspire. To instill in people a true understanding of what this country COULD be, if the right people were fighting for it, and what it WILL be if they don’t. It’s a political podcast yes, but more than that, it’s a podcast about America’s potential, where one passionate, and slightly mouthy, immigrant attempts to motivate the country to become what it promised to be but, so far, has yet to become.     Our country is about to go into a crisis. The question is what are we going to do about it? Will we change with the pain, or will we hold firm to what we know of ourselves and find a stronger, better version of our country in the process?     What is Real Right Now: A Conversation with David Rothkopf

    Instead of having a meltdown and getting mired in every potential crisis coming from the next administration, we have to see the big picture while taking action at the local level. Ask yourself: What is real right now, and what can we do about it?     What’s Next America?

    I still can’t exactly explain what happened with the 2024 election, but it does appear as if Trump and his dangerous, extremist allies have won. I’m a big believer in our institutions, but I also spent the past week trying to figure out how they could have all failed us so badly. I understand the sentiment to want to disengage. To find someone to blame. To point fingers and to close the door on working with anyone who isn’t in your immediate group, because you feel as if they’re the only people you can trust. But this idea that organization and community and goodness can’t stand up to any of this is fundamentally untrue. In many ways, America as we knew it might be over, but the ideas of democracy, human rights, civil rights, and knowing right from wrong, are not over, and if we want any sort of future, we can’t lay down now. That is exactly what these wanna-be authoritarians want us to do. And as far as I’m concerned, they don’t get anything they want. The mainstream media has let us down, so we need to support those doing independent work.
