It was Milton Berle who said, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.” We help our audience learn to build doors of opportunity. Each episode shines a spotlight on our featured guest as they share their journey of successes and failures, hard work and big breaks, lessons learned and the steps taken to turn those lessons into accomplishments.     Jonathan Wolf is the Executive Vice President of the Independent Film & Television Alliance and Managing Director of the American Film Market.  The IFTA is the global trade association of independent producers and distributors of motion picture and television programming. Headquartered in Los Angeles, the organization represents and provides significant entertainment industry services to 150 member companies from 23 countries. Since his appointment in 1998, Mr. Wolf has guided the growth and repositioning of the American Film Market (AFM), the world’s largest film market that takes place annually in Santa Monica. A pivotal destination for independent filmmakers and business people from all over the world, the AFM is a global marketplace where more than $800 million in motion picture and television production and distribution deals are closed each year. The eight day Market hosts more than 8,000 industry professionals and screens more than 500 feature films.  Participants come from over 70 countries and include acquisition and development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, financiers, film commissioners, producers, writers, the world’s press, and all those who provide services to the motion picture industry.

    From short films to Rectify on SundanceTV, hear how Scott Teems found success in Hollywood… on this episode of The Doorpost Podcast Project!   Bio: Scott Teems is a Georgia-born writer-director who currently writes, directs, and produces the acclaimed SundanceTV drama Rectify, which has been hailed as “astounding” (Indiewire), “engrossing” (The Hollywood Reporter), and “unlike anything on TV” (The Daily Beast).    Prior to Rectify, he wrote and directed the award-winning feature film That Evening Sun, starring Hal Holbrook and Mia Wasikowska, which premiered at South by Southwest, where it won the Audience Award and Special Jury Award, then went on to win more than a dozen major awards at festivals across North America. It was a New York Times Critics Pick, was nominated for two Film Independent Spirit Awards, and was the recipient of the Wyatt Award, given annually by the Southeastern Film Critics Association to the film that “best represents the essence of the South.”   In addition, Scott recently directed and produced the feature documentary Holbrook/Twain, which chronicles six decades of Hal Holbrook’s Tony and Emmy Award-winning one-man show, “Mark Twain Tonight!” The film, which features Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch, and Martin Sheen, among others, premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival, where it received rave reviews from The Huffington Post (“an instant classic”), The Los Angeles Times (“intimate, poignantly honest”) and The Hollywood Reporter (“one of the best films showcased in the entire festival”).    Scott has several film and television projects in development, including adaptations of Stephen King’s classic novella The Breathing Method for Blumhouse, Abraham Verghese’s best-selling novel Cutting For Stone for Anonymous Content, and Andre Dubus’s celebrated short story “A Father’s Story.”

Jim's appearance as the "bearded cowboy" was the beginning of many roles to follow.   Television roles for this prolific actor include appearances in The Young Riders, Renegade, Silk Stalkings, Ellen, Babylon 5, Pacific Blue, The Simple Life, L.A. Heat, The X-Files, The Drew Carey Show, ER, Deadwood, The Shield, Charmed, Carnivale, Numb3rs CSI, Sons of Anarchy, Criminal Minds, and Chosen.   On film he appeared in Steel Frontier, Black Out, Trial and Error, Traffic, Dark Blue and Torque.  He did some uncredited stunt work in Independence Day, Sledge: The Untold Story and The Alibi.  He also appeared in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, The Dukes of Hazzard movie, I'm Reed Fish, Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest, Dark Ride, Letters from the Big Man and Adrenaline.     He also appeared in the short film Huntin' and most recently, Times Like Dying.

    40: Natalie Burn, Actress/Writer/Producer - 7Heaven Productions

    From the Royal Ballet to The Actor’s Studio, learn how Natalie Burn became an actress and eventually started her own production company… in this episode of The Doorpost Podcast Project!   Natalie Burn was born in Kiev, Ukraine. She is an acclaimed dancer/choreographer turned actor.  She studied at The Royal Ballet School. She choreographed acts like Nelly, Paula Abdul, Mario, and The Jackson Five. She eventually decided to express her creativity through acting. She was admitted into The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and later The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Actor's Studio in West Hollywood.   She appeared in the action thriller “Expendables 3”. She’s also been in films that have premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. She recently won BEST ACTRESS at the Sunscreen Film Festival in Florida for her performance in the film, AWAKEN.   She speaks five languages, and actively produces and stars in independent films through her company 7Heaven Productions. Her first project under her production company was a film called, “Fallen Angel,” which won The Merit Award at the 2014 Accolade Competition for the outstanding work by a female filmmaker.
