Black Toast
One morning Tom reluctantly woke up with a lot on his mind. He had to be at work at 8am and had a huge meeting. His company was starting a new project and he was responsible to tell everyone about it. He could not be late.
Since he was already behind schedule he thought he could save time by making breakfast while he was in the shower. So he grabbed two slices of white bread and placed them in the toaster and turned it on. He then quickly ran to the bathroom to start his shower.
After his shower he realized he needed to shave. After he shaved he realized he needed to iron his shirt. After that he realized he needed to check his email one last time. Then, all of a sudden he smelt something burning. He quickly jumped from his seat and ran into the kitchen. He saw the toaster billowing thick dark smoke with violent spurts of flames.
He quickly grabbed his freshly ironed shirt and began to beat the flames with it. The flames became angry and grew larger and larger and totally engulfed his shirt. The toaster began to melt and Tom began to panic. His ears then began to throb from the loud alarm above his head. He couldn’t breathe. All he could do was… Run down the fire escape!
