Drifter (Vol 7) – with Tonepoet
This is the second leg of my collab with Tonepoet. We called it "As the World Comes into Focus", and it is essentially an exploration of our inner senses as we drift in and out of consciousness. You may recognize this feeling from a time when you drifted off to sleep and then brought back somehow to faint awakening, only to drift back afterwards into a peaceful and restful sleep.

My first collaboration with Tonepoet, who creates some of the best Ambient mixes I have ever heard. Inspired by the first track, this mix is a surreal journey through untroubled rivers with tranquil piano and violin notes taking you into a heightened experience of relaxation and peacefulness.

Drifter (Vol 5)
The world is quiet, up here by the sky. The wind lingers, filling my nostrils with the smell of the mountain. The clouds wrap around me caging me in a thick white box. The cold misty air brushes over my bare skin sending shivers through me. The trees wave me to come closer and shade me from the whipping air. But I don’t go. The sudden gusts lift me off my feet and sway me back and forth like a feather in the breeze. The grass dances, brushing against its self, humming, singing. The stream slithers through the soft rocks crumpling as it brushes the earth. The rain starts to play as it runs through the field. Then the dark falls on the mountain, and the moon blazes in the night, lighting up the stars. And the world is quiet, up here by the sky. – Colleen Mulcahy

This mix is inspired by the talented Dave Michuda from "low light mixes". His highly polished, finely curated Ambient mixes are such a treat to listen to, and I've grown a fan of his work ever since discovering him a year or so ago.

Perfect
Perfect to put on for drifting to sleep
LIFE CHANGING.
I’ve been looking for something like this for quite a while, and Drifter is flat out the best ambient podcast out there. I like to go out into the woods, off trail, alone a lot and it provides an excellent soundtrack to my little adventures. The string section halfway through Vol. 7 literally made me break down in tears and it took me an hour to recover, something no other song or sound or sad movie has ever been able to produce in me before. This podcast has helped me find beauty in the smallest things. It’s hypnotizing. It’s addicting. It’s the only thing I listen to now. I don’t need to search anymore. I don’t need anything else. All I need is the Drifter podcast. I look forward every day now to going out into the forest on my own with the Drifter podcast in my ears. I can’t say enough words to thank you. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this music. It changed my life.
And I thought Hans Zimmer was heartrending. I thought Harry Gregson-Williams’s stringwork moved me. But this is a whole new level of emotion I’m reaching with this music.
