Drop The Coconut is a story about letting go.

It is a story about a little monkey who reaches out his palm to grab a coconut buried deep in the ground. Once he grabs it, his palm is too large to slide out of the hole, and out of greed, he becomes an easy target for his capturer Simply because he wouldn't let go. All we want to tell that little guy is - drop the coconut - you can be free.

My name is Roi Perets, and along with my husband, Ron Thurston
we are here to share our stories of learning to let go. After almost two decades of living in the Big Apple, we packed our belongings and traveled in an Airstream to discover this beautiful country.

In the 16 months of our travel, we saw the most captivating nature, and as we met people in communities along the road, we learned that, at our core, "We are more alike than we are unlike."

We hope that this story of self-discovery will inspire you to find the coconuts you are holding and drop one or two along the way with us.

Tune in and join the journey!

Drop the Coconut- Mandy and Cliff Brown

Drop the Coconut- Mandy and Cliff Brown

    Hello everyone!
My name is Roi Perets, and I am in San Diego with my husband, Ron Thurston.
We left New York City four months ago to live in an airstream, travel across the US to discover this beautiful country, and rediscover ourselves.
It had been a while since I recorded a podcast- we crossed many states and cities since Glacier in Montana, and I needed time to think rather than speak.
That changed when we met Mandy and Cliff Brown in Malibu, California.
We were scheduled to be in the same campground in San Diego a couple of weeks later, and as we reconnected over dinner, I found thoughtful and articulate partners to chat with about our journey.
Follow Ron and me on our journey across the US-

And the Brown family on their incredible journey:

    And their website: routedownfam.com
If our conversations spark something within you, or you have a "Drop the Coconut" moment that you would like to share, I would love to hear from you!
I hope you enjoy it and thank you for jumping on our coconut wagon today!

Dropping the coconut on Career paths

Dropping the coconut on Career paths

One of the biggest coconuts Ron and I are holding is our career coconut.
I have been working in the fashion industry for two decades, and while I love design and fashion, I forgot to check on myself to make sure my path aligns with my values and dreams.
Although I dropped that coconut a while ago, I still find myself diving into conversations with Ron about it, and I thought it would be a good idea to reach out to a friend of ours, Meghan Houle.
Meghan is an executive recruiter, a Luxury and Specialty Retail Master Coach, and the host of the fabulous podcast: Pivot with Purpose, where she discusses Career Development and Executive Leadership.
If our conversations spark something within you, or you have a "Drop the Coconut" moment that you would like to share, I would love to hear from you. -

    Dropping the coconut on time.

    Dropping the coconut on time.

In this episode, Ron and I talked about our journey so far.
We kept talking about our decisions, and one element kept coming up: Time. Change takes time. And when we tried to track back to the moment it all started, we went back all the way to the moment we met. The seeds of our then future journey were there!
If our conversations spark something within you, or you have a "Drop the Coconut" moment that you would like to share, I would love to hear from you.
You can find me on Instagram: @dropthecoconut, on LinkedIn, and Facebook.
I hope you enjoy it and thank you for jumping on our coconut wagon today!
