    Building Efficiency in an Arthroplasty Practice

    In this episode of the Augment, hosts Dr. Rozell and Dr. Wolfstadt are joined by Dr. Kim to talk about building efficiency in an arthroplasty practice. Dr. Kim discusses his training and where his approach to efficiency came from early in his career. He shared important pieces to building efficiency, which includes developing repeatable approaches to primary and revision TJA, safely moving to the outpatient setting, getting buy in from your institutional administration and, most importantly, developing a good team to surround you.     Perioperative Pain Management in TJA

    In this episode of the Augment, hosts Dr. Wolfstadt and Dr. Landy are joined by Dr. Hah and Dr. Khan, anesthesiologist and pain management physicians, to discuss research in perioperative pain specific to total joint arthroplasty. They start with chronic painful total knee patient where the pain can’t be easily identified, potential sources of chronic pain and different modalities to treat them.     In this episode of the Augment, hosts Dr. Bernstein and Dr. Gold are joined by AAHKS Past President Dr. Vail to discuss how an engineering background led him to arthroplasty and arthritis research, what the future may hold for better treating and understanding osteoarthritis and osteonecrosis, the evolution of arthroplasty treatment through his career, changing institutions for the right reasons, and ways to build a thriving orthopaedic department within a larger institution.     Duke University’s Longitudinal Bundled Program

    In this episode of the Augment, hosts Jenna A. Bernstein, MD and David C. Landy, MD, PhD are joined by AAHKS Past Presidents Michael P. Bolognesi, MD and William A. Jiranek, MD to discuss the development of the longitudinal arthritis bundled care model they have developed at Duke University. The program came from their experience in shorter episode-based bundles, and delivers surgical and non-surgical care for a year or as many as five years. The patients’ care in this bundle is managed by physical therapists overseeing all aspects of arthritis care and works on determining whether a patient is in need of surgery or not.
